What to spend your money on ?

If you're interested I'm putting together a little concern, which would enable those of us in our, uh, rarified profession to avoid embarrassing overlaps ..

Sorry, I don't get what you say. English is not my primary language, and I can't decode exactly what you are saying.

But if it's some kind of insult so be it then! throws the glove at you!

This probably explains a lot of Danish history .. :D

I offer you tea and crumpets and you declare war on Wigan.

I'll be saving all my credits for future expansions. Who knows, we might be able to buy capital ships, space stations, specialized utility vehicles, purchase small planetoids to set up tourist traps, etc.

See this is what im talking about.... i want what the X-series gives us, but in the Elite format. In short Elite has always had superior combat, but X games the superior more convincing universe to play in.

The whole idea in ED of helping a Capital ship destroy another (as in the video) then flying off in my little space ship without any consequence to myself, grand strategy, or empire seems a little pointless. In fairness, i dont see how a fighter should be involved in a capital shoot out period! in the X series you would have hundreds of fighters involved, but with ED its just yourself and perhaps a few buddy's. Then what, they say thanks, give you some credits and off you fly to add another weapon to your ship..

I'd think that capital ships would have many small fighters inside for self defense, and only when they were being out gunned would they hire "off the street" mercenaries to protect them. Or if they were just poor and thought hiring people off the street was the cheaper option than keep a crew of fighters.

I'll refer you to this video which says all there is to say.

In summary, X3 style fleets won't be in the game "At the very least, the first game". But "with time we will add this kind of functionality to a degree".

PS: I agree with both you and David... but I agree with David first :p

i think he was offering to sell you a bridge.....

Later elites like 2 and 3 had a lot more stuff to spend money on.. like new ships and stuff. It would take some saving up to fully max out some of the bigger ships.

I played the x series as well when it came out and my thoughts were how come this is no where near as good as a game made 15 years earlier on a 48k zx spectrum :)

I was kind of hoping that would be the next elite but sadly it wasnt really close.

I played the original elite for about 10 year or so on about 4 different systems.. I dont know how many times I had to start over for various reasons.. tapeing over my saved game or whatever :).. and back then it never seemed to get boring even you had maxed out your ship and had no reason to make more money..

exploring was fun.. waiting for a right on commander was fun.. trying to get to elite was fun.. something I never managed.. deadly was the best I did..

Games now you can get to top rank in a few hours and bored of it long before or just after then.

Theres MP games like BF where there is no money and you can unlock stuff pretty fast yet you still play for hours.. I spent 15 online days on KZ2 and loved it despite unlocking and top ranking in 5 hours..

It shouldn't just be about grinding cash..
