What type of engineering is unique in Colonia ?

Some of my current less than G5 engineering :-

The Dweller
  • Burst G3
  • Pulse G4
  • Beam G3

Marco Gwent
- Power Plant G4

Tod McQuinn
  • Frag Canons G3
  • Canons G2

Anyone top these ? Either bubble or Colonia ?

Current exclusives are:
Brandon: G5 Interdictors (Dekker only does G4)
Brandon: G4 SCBs (Jameson only does G3)
Dorn: G5 Life Support (Jameson only does G4)
Hicks: G5 Fuel Scoops (Jameson only does G4)
Hicks: G5 Refinery (Jameson only does G4)

We're also approaching research complete on our sixth and final exclusive, which will be
Olmanova: G5 AFMUs (Jameson only does G4)
...should definitely be available in four months, but maybe sooner with the current active fast-tracking project.

Everything else we have at G5 as well, except for:
Torpedoes (95% complete, likely to be ready today)
Fuel Limpets (35% complete)
Hatchbreaker Limpets (30% complete)
ECMs (30% complete)
...which are currently only at G4 when at least one bubble engineer provides G5.

Every single engineering blueprint in Colonia started out at G1 and has been dragged up to G5 over the last couple of years through effort roughly equivalent to a CG.

The engineers that Colonia has working for it are people the superpowers could have had working for them, if they hadn't been so quick to write them off as dissidents and criminals.

As for Kansas, while Colonia does maintain sufficient hydroponics capability to ensure its food security, the major areas of economic specialisation are in high-tech manufacturing [1], services and tourism - all highly profitable sectors in the short term for obtaining cash from the bubble, and for developing the region's long-term economic independence.

[1] For example, Colonia as a region currently sells 54,000t of HE Suits - a basic high-tech good required for safe manufacturing and extraction operations by workers galaxy-wide. The bubble as a whole only has 13,000,000t to sell - one in every 240 HE Suits is produced in Colonia.

I suppose these are the BGS gameplay ? How do one improves the situation ? By carrying out as many missions as possible ?

They're unique that you can't do what you can do in the bubble. So the meta bike riders can stay superior to the poor unleveled idiots who thought it might be a good idea to go to the new frontier and have a pioneer experience in open. Also the NPC don't care a bit and sponge themselves up regardless. Real pro MMO game design.

No, by visiting the engineers and rolling blueprints many, many times...
A player @yianniv has spent the last couple of years gathering materials and flitting between the bubble & Colonia to roll blueprints...
@Phisto Sobanii posted a call for assistance in 'building up' the Colonia engineers (look for Operation Montgomery-Scott on the forum) which attracted players like yianniv, me and many others to 'lend a hand' - but yianniv deserves his own beacon for the gargantuan effort he, personally, has made, in my opinion!

No, not BGS, just players making the effort to use mountains of materials to improve their lot, to the point where some blueprints exist in Colonia that do not in the bubble... just players...

G5 sparkly ruby slippers confirmed for Commander Dorothy.
“Toto, I have a feeling we're not in the bubble anymore.” :D (y)

They level up directly by use of the engineering blueprints. So if you engineer an ECM, the research level in ECMs will rise very slightly. If enough people do enough ECMs, eventually another level of ECM blueprints is unlocked.

There's a local news article at the engineer bases which gives the progress levels at 5% milestones

Most of them have been completed this way in the two years since their introduction, the rest are not far off but would still benefit from people putting spare materials into doing the modules.
