What type of explorer are you? - how you choose where to go

I've tried a little of all of the above in my journeys, except number 7. That, I want to do last of all, to venture out and maybe never return.

I started out with a bit of #6, but I am part #5, part #2.
I started out heading for the V945 Scorpio cluster Erimus mentioned, then switched to #3 farming neutron fields. Then slowly along to Great Annihilator and SagA* before coming up with my current project.
Visit as many XTE and OGLE systems as I can (doesn't matter if they're previously discovered or not), fully survey then and trilaterate their positions in TGC/TOR.

I also log EVERY jump distance so I know how far away I am and how far I've actually traveled. My personal OCD. :)

A combination of 6 and 8:
I start each expedition with a specific destination in mind, and I go there, searching for nice shots along the way, surveying the systems where i am the first, and making up my story on the way by triggers in and out ED

I would say Adventurer, mostly though I do it to decompress after I get home from work in the morning. Third shifter with a high stress on call schedule. Makes trying to work out a stream schedule pretty rough. So I choose a random point within 200-300 light years plot a route then looks for POI's on the way. So far it's led to some comical incidents including blowing my canopy 1800 light years out and making it back to civ with my data. (Think I used most of my space diapers on that trip.)

I'm not sure what I am. At the moment I'm sort of recreating the route I took to Sag A to capture all the interesting stuff I've seen already but not sold. I'm also trying to help by identifying as many terraformables as possible to help with the reverse engineering efforts. On the way back I think I'll pop into the neutron fields to help my ranking. Ultimately I want to get the elite ranking, but I don't want to spend more than a couple of weeks exclusively exploring at a time (I wish I could have multiple saves and just switch between my explorer save and other save).

out to 2000kly

That's dedication ;)

1 and a bit of 7. On my fist trip out, had a random destination now on my third diversion and a new destination.

Haven't got very far as I don't play as much as I want so as a result been out for a couple of months. Would like to hit 3000 system scans before I head back.

I do get a bit of 2 when I discover WW and ELWs. Think I'm about 4 and 2 respectively.

I'm not sure where I fit in.

I set a goal (Bomovit sector) and nothing is going to stop me getting there. I'm bored, getting paranoid, occasionally dropping out of SC and firing on planets. But even though I'm still less than halfway there after more than a week, I can't turn back. My obsessive compulsive scanning disorder hasn't helped, but I'm getting better..

Very much The Armchair Explorer, I scour the Galaxy Map looking for interesting areas or planets and head off in that general direction and keep an eye out for others along the way. Can take a while to get to the original picked destination, but that's the whole appeal of exploring for me.
