What type of weapons do the Thargoids use

Hi guys im outfitting a keelback to take into Peladies to roleply my own investigation and Im wondering if any of you know what armour would serve best, I'm going tank. I have no experience of combat with thargoids only been scanned so far at the wreck sites and would like to know anything that can be told about what type of weapons they use. Ive heard that thusfar they can mostly bypass shields suggesting some sort of kinetic slug can anyone confirm

They have a few different weapons at their disposal, most of which you won't see unless you damage them. First, they release swarms of "thargons" that are basically tiny fighters that can fire, and act as homing missiles. ECM and fighters can distract the thargons during a charge. The Thargoid itself has a basic weapon that bleeds through shields, but your shield will absorb most of the damage. The projectiles are red, and slow firing. Makes a 'shew shew' kinda noise when firing. It's hard to describe.

If you manage to destroy one of its hearts, it will begin using what basically looks like a yellow lightning attack. I you're within 700 meters, it will attempt to use this every now and again. It will mess up your shields, and partially disable your ship, slowing you, and making it harder to move. Basically like a snare attack from an RPG.

If you manage to take out multiple hearts, it will start to use caustic missiles, and the classic shutdown pulse. The caustic missiles are scary, though, as you cannot avoid them. (ECM has no effect.) They cause constant hull damage over time. Lastly, if you destroy a Thargoid somehow, it will leave behind a caustic cloud. Do not enter it, unless you have a way to repair, (station nearby, or repair limpits) as I believe once that gets on your hull, it won't stop eating away your ship until you get to a station.

Thank you very much for your concise answer. Ill try and adapt as best I can round what you have told me. I'm going to try and keep my distance or scan and run If I can, maybe use a fighter as a diversion and or see what fire at will turrets do to the swarm. You have been very helpfull thank you.

Yep, the caustic missiles (Did not know they are missiles I thought its more like a cloud around the ship) are nasty. I had to go back to the station for repair. Re: Repair limpits. Does anyone know whether I can repair myself with those repair limpits? If yes, how does it work?

I think as it stands the best option is to keep the hull points high and add some extra eplosive resistance and hope you make it out . Shame theres no extra military fixture on the keelback. Im sure they are just toying with ua. What we'd call and interceptor and what they call an interceptor makes me nervous at what a heavy or capital ship might be.

What would you say is the correct balance off hull and shield strength? 2500 hull for 5000mj shields? I was wondering what amount of hull would allow me to make full use of my shield before bugging out.
