What upgrade to play Planet Coaster well on PC do I need?

Hi all

I'm not into gaming at all really but Planet Coaster has really gripped me and have ordered the early bird version and cannot wait for it!
Being a non gamer now, I'm kind of out of the loop with the specs etc but do have a decent PC (I think) that I use for video editing for work that could be used for PC gaming but think it would need a new graphics card at least and possibly a better processor as its several years old now.

Here are the specs:

Intel Core i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
16GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce GTX 570
Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard
120SSD HD
2GB SATA HD
Corsair RM850 PSU
Win 7 Pro 64bit

I know the official requirements haven't been released yet but what do you guys suggest I upgrade to get a good solid gaming rig that should handle Planet Coaster well?

You have the same graphics card as me. I'd say that's the only thing we'll both be held back by so upgrade that if you can afford to.

All the suggestions on this page as well as those on others are all speculative- as even the developers do not know what the requirements will be....your gpu might be a safe bet, but as to what you should upgrade to that won't be overkill.......you just have to be patient.
The game is still in it's early development stages and things are likely to change.

Hey guys, can someone help me with mine? These are my specs...

OS: Windows 10
Processor: 4th generation Intel® Core™ i7-4710MQ Processor(2b)(2g)
Memory: 8GB DDR3L SDRAM (1 DIMM) Maximum supported = 16GB
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® 840M graphics with 2048MB DDR3 of dedicated videomemory

Both specs posted should not have a problem running the game, however the question is how well will it run the game? Unfortunately until we get official game specs all we can do is speculate. From what they were saying in the first stream they were surprised at how well it was running even without optimization, so that's a positive. Hopefully the alpha will launch with some limited graphical settings available so those with less powerful rigs can have a smooth game experience with the trade off of the game not looking as good.
Any optimization only really gets done at the end of the project once all the content is in place so we should see the game run better as the year progresses. However stability and frame rates can differ from build to build depending on what they have added.

Uhh a 840m! i got one in my notebook. You can just play new games on 720p on lowest details :/

It's probably best to wait until the alpha is out before deciding what to upgrade. I've already set aside some readies as I suspect I'll have to invest in some new silicon! That said though, my i7 920 has made it this far and if it will still deliver the goods, I'll save the cash! At the current time we don't know if the game will run better on ATi or nvidia hardware so it's wise to wait and see. There are also new GPU architectures supposedly on the horizon so again, another reason to wait and not jump the gun! Looking at the specs posted here, I'd be reasonably confident it would run on most of those machines, you may have to push a few of the graphical sliders to the left though to get playable frame rates.

Wait and see, then you're in a better position to make an informed choice of what to upgrade!

I really appreciate the answers, I'll start saving just in case I don't meet the requirements. Thanks again!

Is it configured right? I have the 675m and can play at 1080p and high settings on most games

I don't know much about this, but I'll look more into and see what I can do as far as configuring it.

I would hazard a guess that your laptop is auto selecting the onboard Intel GPU and not the dedicated GTX

Very easy fix

Even tho the 675m is 2 generations older than the 840m it is still a decent amount more powerful as show here http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-675M-vs-GeForce-840M. I have an 840m in my laptop and its pretty garbage, luckly I have a 980ti in my desktop so I'm not going to have any problems playing.
