Ships What weapons do you prefer using on the Fer-De-Lance?

My regular set up is Beam Lasers and Multi-Cannons but i wanted to change it up a little. Whats your choice? My ship is unengineered fyi.

This one is heavily engineered so it might not be viable with stock modules, essentially the pulse lasers can work on the target shields and the PA can deliver high damage to the hull/shield as required (PA's deliver absolute damage i.e. it bypasses any resistances) not the easiest weapon to use but very effective.

You could also try a beam/rail gun mix.

Yea i dont think that would work on default powerplant. Thats lots of power.

Mine is four turreted pluses and a gimbled Multi-cannon the the big slot. No engineers what so ever. Does not eat the power, or make too much heat. I hit the turrets and let them strip the shields, while I target the drives and any time the shields go down, I then use the Multi-cannon, as well.

For me, it works very well.

My go-to is 2 beams, 2 seeker missiles and a PA or MC. Not even close to most effective, but I find it a hellova lot of fun to fly.
One day I'll get engineered and PP modules for long range beams, plasma slug PA or Corrosive MC and packhounds.
If shock cannons ever get more ammo, or engineering so i can plasma slug them, I'll switch out the beams for these.

I might try a similar setup on a Mamba, with 2 beams, 1 seeker, 1 shock cannon and PA or MC. (Might consider long range modded cytos on Incendiary - corrosive MC build)

General theme is to have beams as always available shield ripper, backed up by MC, or if I'm using PA, PA is for medium and large ships, while missiles are for small/medium.

Oh, this works? Never thought about fixed weapons for the 4 weapon slots. No issues with convergence? I guess you only have a small distance window for max. DPS? Sounds interesting...

I prefer gimballed for that big beam, for it is needed not for it's DPS, but to dump heat ASAP. As for the railguns, on FDL they are located pretty close. Besides, even if you install something gimballed to those M slots, you'll still have point your nose precisely to use all four guns simultaneously.

That works excellent against NPC, even the "fattiest" of them. Yep, you have to stay close for max damage, but FDL is a fast ship and you can always "maneuver" your pips to get permaboost.

However I'm not sure all that would work well against Clipper gankboat or something alike ;)

Btw, tried hammers -- and that didn't work well. Too much heat and have to point at enemy for too long. May be (haven't tried) hammers work when engineered for long range, but for short range regular railguns are better.

A large HUGE (*duh*) gimballed overcharged Multicannon, a medium gimballed overcharged Multicannon, a medium gimballed overcharged Multicannon, a medium gimballed overcharged Multicannon, a medium gimballed overcharged Multicannon... yes, I'm a gimbalscrub :D

edit: It's Yyyyyuuuuuuge ... why does nobody point that out to me???

I use an efficient grade 5, 4A multi-cannon with corrosive rounds. I used the efficient mod because it keeps all the other guns cool and the lower ammo count from corrosive shell is not a problem, it's the last gun to run out of ammo. The 4, 2F multi-cannons are all overcharged with flow control.

My FDL has two C2 Efficient Pulse Lasers. one Scramble Spectrum and one Phasing Sequence.

The rest are Overcharged Autoloader multicannons.

Huge overcharged fixed corrosive multicannon
3x medium overcharged fixed multicannon with autoloader
1 Long range feedback cascada railgun to cut SCB.

It´s a classic config, no gimballed, old school dogfight

Mine's rigged for PvE bountyhunting/CZs, 4 efficient heatvent beams and a huge overcharged high-yield cannon. I had the heat sitting at 0% in a CZ yesterday.

5x fixed multicannons

Or 4x fixed multicannons with a huge PA for that old school meta nostalgia

Rock On!
I know that wipes the floor with NPCs, I assume coming from you it will do the same in PvP. I just kinda thought (knowing next to nothing really) that in PvP you were sunk without a Plasma/Rail combo.

The all multicannon FDL, whether fixed or even gimballed is definitely very effective. I've also seen a fixed huge beam with 4 frags be surprisingly good, so although the plasma/rail combo is still the meta, other weapon configurations can work.
