What Will Future Updates Include?

Quote from Leaf today, has been mentioned before:

Nah, someone, I forget who, found in the Planet Coaster files identical mentions of that same flying code, which PC used for it's pigeon systems. Since PZ is based off of the same engine as PC, they're just leftovers :)
So imo, nothing is confirmed.

If we are going with 5 more DLC and therefore 5 updates:

3 with update
  • More shops
  • Brachiation
  • Scenery Maker toolkit

Last 2 will be minor QoL changes , bugfixes or polishing the game. Preparing it for a port to console, maybe?

I can maybe see updated transportation choices? Like a bus tram (would go perfect for North American and Arctic sections) and a better, smaller chairlift. I'd also love guest activities, like photo booths, playgrounds, and maybe things they pay for.

Animal ambassadors would be cool for certain animals that might not work in traditional habitats, exhibits, OR aviaries. (like the sloth or slow lorris?)

I second brachiation and more shop facilities; that could be a part of extended guest activities I suppose.

hm.

*Flying + Aviary building stuff
*more shops and rides
*free choose for terrain texture (maybe our own? sims 3:caw tool can it)
*Theme makers tool kit (personally i want a Fur Variation Makers Tool Kit)
*Brachiation and better climbing behavior
*Animal Personalitys
*Animal/Animal, Animal/Human Interaction
*Full Aquatic Animals?

Personally, I want a better hereditary and genetic system. If I have a light gray female wolf and a light gray male wolf, I want light gray puppies and not reddish ones... its too random... the same with the golden/silver/bronze rings. Last week I buy two arctic foxes, both have no ring, from the 6 babies they made 4 have golden rings...

The one big thing missing for me is birds/aviaries. Once we have those, everything else is icing on the cake.

A climbing pass with brachiation would be nice to see eventually!

I really hope that we'll one Day get the Ability to choose between different Map Backgrounds. We can build a antarctic Zoo/Research Station/Nature Preserve but we can do nothing against the Trees in the Background

Selective Breeding works good on my Llama Farm. The almost completely white Llamas always get almost completely white Offspring. I think the System in Planet Zoo also selects out of the Textures of the close Ancestors of your Animals, so you just need to start with one light grey Breeding Pair, at least a second Pair that's also light grey and then only keep the ones with the desired Color for Breeding. Didn't experiment with other Factors like Size yet, even though I'd like to selectively breed 0% Size Llamas

Yeah? Maybe they fixed this. In the past I have two light gray wolf and the puppies were 1 gray 2 reddish

A feature focus about environments in JWE2 dropped today.
So far the biomes and the foliage that suits them in JWE2 have been very similar to those we have in PZ.

But this feature focus quite surprisingly introduced the Alpine biome. In PZ the taiga biome in most cases seems to cover for the Alpine biome, at least for some species. In JWE2 there is going to be both a Taiga and an Alpine biome. I find that rather interesting, especially since they do seem to look fairly similar to each other judging from that one pic.

I know this is very speculative, but I wonder if this could mean we might get the Alpine biome in a future PZ update. I wouldn't necessarily expect it to be a whole Alpine DLC, but more as a part of the a free update coming alongside a potential Europe DLC. The DLC could then feature a few Alpine species with the Alpine Ibex being the obvious choice and possibly an Alpine marmot. We already got a descent amount of species in the game that could benefit from this biome, so I don't think they would have to add more than 1-2 species to it at first.

It would also go hand in hand with the new heightmaps.

I think it's more of a way to squeeze an extra biome without much work in JWE2. Of all potential biomes to add to PZ, Alpine would be the least vaulable or game changing, considering alpine fauna is scarce to start with, and that in the game it would overlap nearly completely with Taiga.

If we were to get more biomes, I think wetlands, coastal, and scrublands would make a much bigger change.

Well JWE2 actually got fewer biomes than PZ, so it would probably have been easier to add the Grassland rather than making a completely new one.

Of course chances are that the Alpine biome is going to be an important part of the next JW movie, so they had to add it in, or they wanted to add something to make JWE2 stand out.

But even if that is the case, it still makes the chances of seeing it in PZ bigger than they were before.

I agree that the Alpine biome wouldn't be a super important addition when it comes to animals. For me the most interesting about it, would probably be new maps with new backgrounds.

Doesn't JWE2 take place entirely within north america? That might explain not taking the PZ grassland biome, which is a very distinct african savannah. I would love a regular temperate grassland however.

I actually find this a bit disappointing - the biomes used by frontier are one of the least consistent / least accurate elements of the game. Some are based on climate (tropical, temperate, polar) others on vegetation (or similar - grassland, taiga, tundra)… the whole system needs a rework IMO.

Polar? And I think the biomes do a good job covering for most of the 14 actual biomes, with a few key ommisions.

It works ok for some, but coupling the temperature to them just doesn’t work - (eg just look at “tropical” New Zealand). Outside, outside of a few regions, climate (rain and temperature) just doesn’t come close to the real world (and sometimes doesn’t even work for the biome it’s representing - eg tropical temperature range).

TBH I don’t see why it would be difficult to assign a temperature range and rainfall chance from real-world data dependant on where in the globe the player clicks - arrays of climate data like this are easy to find and free to access online and I can’t see that it’d affect performance at all (since it’s just defining the parameters at the start of the game).
