What will the beta do for VR

I wasn't thinking of participating in the beta, but I might give it a look to make sure everything is hunky dory with my VR setup

Ask not what the Beta will do for, but what you will do for the Beta...

Same thing as last time I guess.

Report bugs that will be ignored and pushed into stable anyways..

Also.
A beta announcement isn't the place to look for details.
That would rather be the patch notes that gets released with the beta. And subsequent beta releases.

According to Mr. Obsidiant Ant there will be graphic updates, lighting systems and colours. That’s all we have. For us VR users it’s wait and see, then adjust our equipment accordingly.

Just like we do with a new woman.

Actually I would have expected that the GPU requirements go up in general with some factor adding to those of VR.

The terminated support for MacOS because of missing compute shader support points to an overhaul of rendering and GPU compute in a way that can't be dealt with by offering lower graphics settings for MacOS variants.
But to the contrary it was stated the requirements wouldn't go up in this thread for that topic here, so chances are they just want do things in a different more efficient way to better use HW.

To get a picture about the likeliness of new features for VR fans I just want to point you to the History of VR updates and fixes in Elite Dangerous. I still keep it updated on a regular basis...

well, changes in UI seems to be better for VR players. Some panels seems to have larger font size.

It's amazing I can navigate the current GUI (in VR) with various hat/paddle functions and do most things very quickly. Docking request (I haven't really timed it) seems like it's under a second and that's using the menu exactly i.e. no hotkey just for docking.

Amazing, because despite the fact the new GUI looks much better for VR I'm actually concerned!

I'm sure it'll be much better.

Well they where very clear this was happening and why.

As for new graphics i wouldn't necessarily say they will increase.
might be a dropping of older hardware but for newer hardware might even see a benefit as the game starts to make use of newer methods and features.

Granted this could be considered an increase if you are affected, so I suppose my point is a bit moot.

I had the time to go through the recent live stream about the Chapter 4 beta.
They pretty much confirmed all UI changes have been throughout tested in VR and see some "iterative" process, hence our input is needed i guess.
The comment was made after the new system map discussion here...

"a level of support for VR"

Not sure the world of gaming would ever be set on fire with the apathy of that remark.

Honestly, FD seem to have no idea how much of a hit this game is in VR communities .
