What would a Triassic Pack DLC look like?

So after the Cretaceous Pack I thought of other era packs including a Triassic Pack. I thought the ideal three Triassic dinosaurs would be Plateosaurus, Herrerasaurus, and Coelophysis. However of course Herrerasaurus was added to the latest Carnivore Pack, so that leaves a spot open. What should be in place of Herrerasaurus in a hypothetical Triassic Pack? I'm thinking perhaps either Liliensternus (it looks like a cross between Coelophysis and Dilophosaurus) or perhaps Mussaurus which is The Lost World book canon and is a small (3 meter) prosauropod. Thoughts?

I think Coelophysis would make a good new small carnivore and i like the idea of Plateosaurus as well since its technically a new classification of dinosaur (Pro-sauropod). While i personally have a soft spot for Lilensternus i think its far too similar in look to Proceratosaurus or Dilophosaurus and given the copy-pasted animations being given to dinosaurs, will act too much like it too. Eoraptor might be a better choice since its one of the first dinosaurs we know of, and it would fit into Argentinian dig zones that we already have. Thecodontosaurus would also be a possiable as a early sauropod relative, and given it was found in England could fit into those dig zones.

Personally I would love to see a Triassic Pack DLC actually include a possiable non-dinosaur species. I think it would make JWE stand out, especially against JPOG. That would open up the options. For this i would love to see Lystrosaurus as a small pig like herbivore that was very sucessful, Postosuchus as a big carnivore (and would draw in us Walking with Dinosaur's lovers) and Tanystropheus as a bizzare looking reptile.

Well the trouble is that Eoraptor is far too small for Frontier's limits. Now I would like them to do a Small Dinosaur DLC at some point to change that, and I do think that is certainly something that can be done without too much difficulty through subtle adjustments to the game. However Eoraptor is about the size of Compsognathus. So until we have Compsognathus in the game it doesn't seem likely that those two will make it either.

Thecodontosaurus could work I think though. It is rather larger than I thought, being about Troodon size.

Animals like Lystrosaurus, Postosuchus, or especially Tanystropheus would be really cool. Though they are non-dinosaurians, and I would imagine they would add a flying reptile or aquatic reptile pack before they start to include animals like those.

Herrerasaurus is labelled in game as simply Triassic, rather than Late Triassic. This may be due to the fact it is the only one right now, or it may be due to dinosaurs being the only thing on the brain.
A Triassic pack at this point doesn't seem likely to me, though I'd say for the moment at least that it'd probably be dinosaurs exclusively. I'd also say that it'd probably be two herbivores and a carnivore, like the Cretaceous pack.
A Herbivore Dinosaur Pack to me seems likely, which would likely take Plateosaurus for it's Triassic dino.

If they still did go for a Triassic Pack after this, then I think they'd possibly go for more continent diversity from North America and either Asia, Africa and/or India.
Potential candidates, with likely one of each category:
Quadrupedal Sauropodomorph
  • Isanosaurus (Thailand)
  • Melanosaurus (South Africa)
  • Lessemsaurus (Argentina)
Bipedal Sauropodomorph
  • Nambalia (India) [fairly fragmentary, so open to interpretation]
  • Thecodontosaurus (UK)
Theropod
  • Coelophysis (USA and Jurassic of South Africa & Zimbabwe)
  • Liliensternus (Germany)

There are actually only two Middle Triassic dinosaurs currently, Nyasasaurus parringtoni and Spondylosoma absconditum. The classification of either as dinosaurs is currently questionable, which may be why they only had Herrerasaurus listed as "Triassic." Prior to that there are no dinosaurs.

It would be nice to have an Ornithschian category too, but there are only three Triassic Ornithischians, and all three are too small, and two of them are questionable.

Procompsognathus would be nice as that is in the book canon, but it is too small unfortunately, unless perhaps they make a small dinosaur update.

Coelophysis seems like a given... they could easily clone it from either the Troodon or Proceratosaurus.

Staurikosaurus, another small Triassic theropod might also work, although unlike Coelophysis, using Troodon or Proceratosaurus would involve upscaling it.

Plateosaurus would seem like an obvious addition, however the lack of any bipedal prosauropods currently in the game would mean they'd have to make a new model, animations and so on... and I'm not sure they'd put that much work into a simple dino pack.

Working under the impression that Plateosaurus will come in a normal DLC pack and this Triassic Pack will come afterwards, Unaysaurus could easily be added, since it's basically a smaller Plateosaurus; another bipedal prosauropod.

Lessemsaurus or Ingentia are both large prosauropods that appear to have been strictly quadrupedal... they might be able to adapt one of the current sauropod models into one of these guys.

Thecodontosaurus and Mussaurus both appear to be quadrapedal prosauropods, but unlike Lessemsaurus or Ingentia are much, much smaller than any present sauropod.

However most likely coelophysis if added into the game would probably have the same mechanics as the Troodon and the proceratosaurus,so even if it was added in it probably wouldn't make much of an impression really it would be up to Frontier ultimately to decide how coelophysis hunts besides it would be unrealistic if coelophysis Hunted Hadrosaurs.and the real coelophysis hunted small mammals so I would really like to see this animal hunt goats rather than dinosaurs, a small carnivore that could actually coexist with ornithomimids. Plateosaurus would also be another interesting and unique dinosaur and I hope Frontier ads this one in the near future.

I agree, Plateosaurus is perhaps the most iconic Triassic era dinosaur, with Herrerasaurus and Coelophysis coming in at a close second and third. Any Triassic pack would be incomplete without it.
