What would be a good laptop for playing the Steam version?

I am no expert in fact I've been called a lot of unkind things the opposite from expert in my time but I got my desktop PC from DinoPC and it's been really good. A quick look on their website:

I think these will do what you need and start at about £850.

Like I say no expert, there may be better specs for cheaper out there, hopefully someone more sensible will turn up to help!

Depends what your budget is.
I would say I5 cpu, at least a gtx1050TI gpu and 16 GB ram

What would be the cheapest option?

That's a bit steep.

Mine cost me close to 2 grand 2 yrs ago. well I say ‘me’ it actually cost my company nearly 2 grand as I use it for wok (cough) and Alienware make the best business laptops out there, it’s just pure coincidence that it’s great for playing ELITE on.:D

When it comes to playing games laptops are total garbage unless you buy one of those super expensive gaming laptops but you have already said that is too expensive for you. So I suggest building your own desktop PC. I would say you could buy a prebuilt desktop but they often have weak hardware in them as well. If you do go that way I suggest find one with a decent CPU like an i5 or so and then you can just upgrade the GPU, make sure you can do this. Of course a decent prebuilt desktop isn't cheap either. It's going to be expensive as well. Even more expensive are the prebuilt gaming PC's. But since you said the laptops were to expensive I will take it that they are out of the question as well.

I would build one myself if I were you or just buy a console. You aren't going to get a laptop or desktop for $500 or less that can run this game well and have it look good right out of the box.

We don't know what the specifications will be yet, at least the recommended specifications. That will come later I believe, probably closer to the release date. Till then all we can do is guess. But you won't be getting a laptop that meets the recommended system specs that can play the game with no issues on the sort of budget you seem to have.

I honestly think if 850 is too much you might want to get a ps4 because you need to spend a good amount of money to get a decent computer

Thanks, everyone. I have a PS4, I'm just worried that it won't get all of the content that the Steam version has. So far there's been no indication that this is the case, but I'm worried nonetheless.

I wouldn't worry about cause the PS4 will get everything the Steam/PC version gets. I don't see how Frontier could give the PC version extra content and not allow the consoles to have access to it. It would be a pretty awful thing to do to their customers.

I wouldn't worry about missing out on anything since it is designed for the big 3. It isn't a PC game that is being ported over. If anything PC gamers are missing out on the most since they had to simplify everything to make it work on ps4 and xbox one

JWE has the same Minimal stats as Planet Coaster - the only exception is the Graphics Card (GTX 560 vs GTX 650)

I'd suggest using the recommended stats from Planet Coaster (below) - just upgrade the Graphics card a touch.

RECOMMENDED:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 7 (SP1+)/8.1/10 64bit
Processor: Intel i7-4770/AMD FX-8350
Memory: 12 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GTX 980 (4GB)/AMD R9 380 (4GB)
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 8 GB available space

I am using the Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro. (i5-6300HQ 2.3GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M, 8 GB DDR4)
I am playing Planet Coaster and I can play The Witcher 3 without a problem. So I hope that it will be able to handle JWE.
I can't play on the highest settings (usually using low), but to me that doesn't really matter. (you have to deal with it if you want to use a laptop for gaming)
Maybe you can find a good used one.

i have a gaming laptop, but it's an expensive way to go. but the wife was ill and I could game and nurse her so needs must. I am back now to a desktop and an HP stream for presentations.
