What would you do if not an Explorer?

I started as a merchant. I keep a custom built Cobra at Altair to run the rares trade route in that area.

I've no interest whatsoever in any form of pew pew pew. Mining doesn't appeal to me either.

My interests lie solely in amassing a huge fortune in credits...and in exploring as much of the Galaxy as I possibly can.

So what interests you in addition to exploring?

I tried trading. It's no different in this game than any other game of the same genre. So to me that means "boring". Same with "pew pew". I might try mining. But exploration is the only thing this game does that is at all remarkable yet it seems to be the one thing FD kinda ignores. Ironic. Anyway, to answer your question, mining. Then nothing I guess.

Im agreeing with the other posters, Id hoist the black with Badger or bust rocks with Hairball. Really exploration is the only truly unique aspect of Elite Dangerous and I can't understand why its treated like an unimportant afterthought in a simulation clearly designed for it at great operational and computational costs to its developer.

Well if not exploring i guess i would be a miner
I know choose the two most apparently boring professions but neither are so whatsoever

In the end its the lure of the black that inspires me to play, the unknown and ineffable

I enjoy doing bounty/RES hunts with my friends. Wings was a great addition for me on that front.

Personally, I really enjoy the community goals when I am back from journeys. I've had some of the most fun experiences in Elite doing them. I generally do the trade CG's just for the social interaction aspect. Of course being blown out of the stars is always a danger as well, but I've found that generally doesn't happen if you at least play along. Lol one of the most fun interactions I had was playing dumb during the interdiction and smooth talking my way through.

Well, I enjoy a little pew pew every now and then, but bounty hunting just doesn't keep my interest long enough. I've also tried my hand at mining and trading, but they also feel a bit repetitive and dull. They're still fun, just not nearly as much compared to exploring. I suppose if I wasn't an explorer, I'd have to keep switching things up to keep things interesting.

I like the mundane things, so probably mining with a side of bounty hunting. In the hopes that we can... build something later on, I would be curious if there are some rare minerals and materials that will be mined only.

Flipping systems mostly. before 1.3 that is.

P.S. Nice to see a CMDR from my part of the universe. the Lebanese part that is :D i thought i was the only one in ED.

Before I was an explorer, I was a bounty hunter.
If I ever get back to civilisation and decide to settle down, I'm hoping that the political situation Power Play will provide would make assassination a viable source of income.

I don't like politicians.

Good question. I've done plenty of bounty hunting and combat zones in my downtime between trips, although its rare for me to have more than a week or two between trips (powerplay might change that though).

I could be tempted to do mining, although, if i may, i'd be a long distance miner, trying to find exotic resources in uninhabited systems.... its kind of good from a RP perspective, a frontier miner. On the downside, from what FD have said, i'd guess rare materials outside RES are probably lacking.

Probably a a bit of everything.
Started off as a trader and did some missions from time to time. Tried mining. Would have tried bounty hunting and maybe piracy if I hadn't picked up exploring.

I believe Painite and Osium are only available via mining at the moment.

As for the original question - I try to do a bit of everything - just mixing it up into 3 week blocks. So 3 weeks exploring, then 3 weeks doing trade and missions. Perhaps a week or two of Bounty hunting. Then back on another exploring trip.

Explosions. I exploded my way to Dangerous before I started exploring.

If asked to trade things I will explode the one who asks.

Now, I prefer the peacefulness of the black. The only explosion will be me falling asleep at the wheel and exploding myself.

I explore in-between Buckyball Run Races, so the Buckyball Run A* makes a nice hybrid - race to Sag A*, explore on the way back to the start line. ;)

Do what I am doing now, getting empire rank up and finding permits.

But will be returning to the big black soon, Empire is one LONG night of the long knifes.
