What would you suggest for elite flight controls

My joystick is finally giving up the ghost, so I'm looking at purchasing a HOTAS system. Anyone got any suggestions ?

Any pointers would be appreciated

The saitek x52 is an awesome stick and can be had for a fraction of the price of a x52 pro or other top flight sim sticks.
There's also a list of recommended mods to do to it but I ultimately found no need to do them.

I have a Saitek X55, the software is a little quirky but works well once you figure it out. That + TrackIR + voice attack + rudder pedals = happiness. Stick first though for sure.

Many people play the Saitek X52 or X55.

Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog also seems to be quite common, but you should buy rudder pedals with that. I'm pretty sure it's the most robust HOTAS you can get, totally worth the money if you can afford it, and it's what I'm using.

CH Fighterstick, CH Throttle and CH Pedals should also make for a good combo. They have a very special button feel which I like very much.

As someone who recently disassembled the Warthog to grease it, robust is not the word I would choose to describe the internals. It's all plastic on the inside and really bad manufacturing quality. I can see this causing trouble for me in the not so far future. It's a decent stick, but it probably won't last many years when used frequently. Mine has about 500-600 hours on it now, gentle movements mostly. Don't think it will hold another 500 hours.

From what I've read from the Sim community, the Black Mamba stick may be the best out there. Unfortunately I've not been able to acquire one since they are sold out all the time. You can mount the Warthog Grip on it if you prefer it. So buying the Warthog now and upgrading to the Black Mamba when the Warthog starts to cause trouble might be a good solution.

You really need pedals though. It's so much more fun.
