Whatever Happened To Commander Jameson?

Is there any canon lore regarding what has happened to the guy we played in the original Elite?

Did he add Locke to his name and go after a certain Spartan (just kidding)?

I just was about to boot up ED when the whole "What happened to the guy who used to fly wireframe ships for a living?" thought popped into my head. I've not read any of the Elite books you see so don't know if it was discussed in there.

He gave tactical Data of the human defence force to the Targoids, became drug addictive, and was found at an outpost by imperialn forces.
One week later he was executed.

Galnet did'nt write about that case, but they named a station after him to prevent that anybody ever will knows the truth!

...just my educated guess ;)

Holy crap... he was killed by PIRATES? Guess they thought all those people playing Elite were the same Jameson and blamed him for millions of pirate deaths. ;)

I also never realised his first name was Peter....

In the Wings (1.2) promo video, one of the pilots was CMDR Jameson. I presume she is a descendant of his. So he had kids at some point. :)

There is also the Jameson Memorial station.

I dunno about you, but I played CMDR Jannah Berihn, not CMDR Jameson, but jokes aside that is a good point. I think it is time that somebody wrote a bio for the late and much missed CMDR Jameson. Ah, the old BBC Wireframe Cobra, I know it so well!

He gets a brief mention in the book "Wanted" (I think it's that one), and it mentions his "Last recorded engagement". He was in his Cobra, heading back to Lave, and got attacked by two FDLs looking for glory. He apparently killed them both, but nobody heard from him after that.

The original Jameson from Elite was supposedly killed under mysterious circumstances. I believe it was blamed on pirates but more than likely INRA was to blame as he (much like Mic Turner) figured out that both the Federation and the Empire's military leadership were in cahoots to keep the "war" going for as long as possible so they could benefit from continuous support from both the people and ignorant elected officials. If I was to guess I'd say he ran across evidence that the Thargoid war was started on purpose to give the two navies excuse to build up their capability. Who knows maybe unchecked both powers would be under complete martial law and effectively military dictatorships. Certainly between Patreus on one end and Hudson & Vincent on the other end you're starting to see this even if about 100-150 years too late.

Does Frontier Elite 2 indicate that you play one of his Grandchildren (the different starting location being different grandchildren) who have received the Eagle Mk.I as part of Cmdr Jameson's last will and testament.
And we are 50 years after that so likely Great Grandchidlren

I was running missions to get the Phekda permit and the text for one made fun of commanders for wanting to be the next Jameson.

It's nice to see the legend alive and well.
