Whatever happened to the Ride Music soundtrack?

They only released the music soundtracks, not the ride music.
This was never confirmed either.

The thread you mention only talks about "music" in general which does not apply to ride music as far as I know.

Better read that topic again I would say. Even the topic title refers to ride music explicitly. There is one statement from chief audio Jim Croft in there, stating

We'll be releasing the diegetic score sometime early in the New Year

A bit of a weird way to put it, but the term "diegetic" in movies refers to "sounds coming from objects or activities on screen." So in this context, diegetic score should mean "ride or speaker music that the in-game guests can also hear". As opposed to the background music ("non-diegetic") that only the player can hear. The latter has of course already been released, even in remixed form since that statement has been made.

In true Frontier Fashion, Jim didn't make a true commitment, nor did he mention which "New Year". This is by no means an official community announcement, but it's the closest lead we have. I was looking forward to that soundtrack, but I don't think this is still happening. This game's evolution was pretty uneventful music-wise anyway. It started off great with some very nice new tracks in the Winter Update, but all added rides and major updates since then didn't feature new music. Well, except for a uninspired remix of The Wonderful Planet of Coaster, supposedly meant for fireworks shows.
