What'll be your commander name?

We all know what everyone will call their ships but how are you going to call yourselves? I'll be CMDR Dingus because that'll be me for a month or two. Not knowing what I'm doing and eventually crashing on the mail slot of the station numerous times.

That's not as trivial as it sounds - it's definitely not the same as naming our ships. You're talking about creating a brand-new account totally separate from our default account. I may do this to create a second CMDR sometime (a hot female pirate, like Geena Davis from Cutthroat Island), however, again, it's not trivial, and the odds of getting a unique name that sounds like a name is incredibly rare these days.

I remember when I had to ring up Sony about my account, and the guy asked me what my ID was and I told him, he said "wow, you must have got in super early, no numbers or anything".

Our grandchildren will be unable to get an email that remotely resembles the English language, let alone a gamertag.

That's one of the things I like about Elder Scrolls Online, you can have LONG names, which greatly increases the available namespace. I joined ESO very late, but I still created "normal" names by making them titles, like Henry The Honorable and Samantha Of High Rock. Considering all the names I see in ESO with numbers and underscores, this seems to be a little known fact.

I suppose one can do the same with PSN using the underscores (or upper/lower case letter differential, like I did), but it's not really the same...

it will be our psn ID so, not much of a choice right now, unless we make a new account (i know i wont do this) so mine will be CMDR HHKaaL

Really? Oh. Didn't knew that, I thought our cmdr's name could be different from our standard PSN name.

True mine sounds stupid tbh, commander Mr Fad lol ;)

I've kinda took a shine to arriving at a station being addressed by 'delacy Mike romeo foxtrot' though so I'm good :)

So true!

I really tried to find a name that is not already occupied and as Old Duck said "sounds like a name".

I´m not very happy with my current name, for it seems to me not really fitting for a space sim. It´s just my old player name from FPS-times and more like a ironic reference, which only works in German.

But I think I´ll have to stay with it. At least it looks like a name and I don´t have this "xX --- Xx" stuff surrounding it. :D


So either you chose well at times or you have to be very creative finding a new name that suits you....

Mine will be CMDR TK7725

Not overly thrilled but it's been my psn name for ages and I can't be bothered making a new psn ID just for Elite

Everyone just calls me Tee-kay now lol
