What's a good halfway base? Something between Federation and Empire, with a bit of Allied on the side.

What's a good halfway base? Something between Federation and Empire, with a bit of Allied on the side.

Hoping to find a new home base as I'm getting tired of taking the FDL and Vulture on 20 jump excursions (180-200 LY) down to these Empire-based community goals. I keep nodding off at the controls. ;-)

Would be nice to relocate to a high tech home within a reasonable distance of Empire, Federation and Allied systems. Makes it easier to cash in those bounties, and saves an old man from falling asleep and crashing into a star.

Any suggestions?

Esumindii is my home base.

Its awesome for outfitting and well located. Got all my ships there.

I found MU-1 Cygni to be pretty good. It's maybe 50Ly or so from the Empire/Fed border and about 100 Ly from Allied space.

Furrer Station has a "hidden" resource site no more than about 20Ls from the station as well which makes for good bounty hunting.

My old home was an independent high tech system surrounded by predominantly Federation systems while being close to Leesti (Alliance) and a few jumps from Codorain (lonely Imperial outpost) called Arexe. I'm still allied with Jet State Co. who run it.

I need to work on moving my Federation rank above Warrant Officer, so my new home is LP 861-12. While it may not flow off the tongue as easily, it's a really cool system with lots of interesting features. And it's still high tech.

You don't need an Empire / Federation owned system, just find a system that has both factions that is not far from an Alliance held system.

I've been based in Leesti for the last 3 months. Time to move on.

As for this "Open" mode that you speak of - would Mister Bridger from "The Italian Job" (original version) mix with rabble of this sort? Neither would I. I belong to a gentleman's private group.

I haven't tried any groups probably something I should look into as the rabble bit is hard to deny, not sure that ones for me though

Liaedin (Empire) is smack down in the middle of Fed, with Alignak (Alliance) not far.
That's where I drop off my Empire and Alliance bounties.

I haven't checked if there are Empire/Alliance factions present in surrounding systems, I just go straight to the controlled systems.
