Newcomer / Intro What's a good initial load for a clipper?

I'm still fairly new to the game and slowly building up. I have two ships right now:
  • A mostly A rated Cobra with gimballed cannons and gimballed beam lasers
  • A mostly A rated T6 with 100 tons of cargo space.

I have about 25 mil credits right now, and a nice 40 ly trade route that gives me a 300,000 cr round trip. I'm a Lord in the empire, so I need to run my Cobra a bit more to get to the rank I need to get a clipper. But the clipper is my next ship, I was debating getting a T7, but then played around with numbers, and I can build the Clipper to have a little bit more cargo than the T7.

My question is what is a good initial load out for the clipper? How many credits do I want to grind to get it?

I played with a loadout on edshipyard and thought this might be a good start:

[Imperial Clipper]
L: 3C/G Cannon
L: 3C/G Cannon
M: 2D/G Beam Laser
M: 2D/G Beam Laser

BH: 1I Lightweight Alloy
RB: 6E Power Plant
TM: 6E Thrusters
FH: 5A Frame Shift Drive
EC: 5E Life Support
PC: 6E Power Distributor
SS: 5E Sensors
FS: 4C Fuel Tank (Capacity: 16)

7: 7E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 128)
6: 6E Shield Generator
4: 3E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 8)
2: 1E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 2)

That gives me 38% more cargo than I carry now. More fire power than the Cobra has, and still a decent jump range. But its ~32 million, + 1.5 million in insurance, + 2 million for cargo hauling. That means I should have 36 million before I go this route, and just for a clipper that may be close to holding its own long enough to get away. I really want to trade out that 6E shield for a 4A shield and put in another 64 tons of cargo. But I don't know if a 4A shield will be enough to cover the clipper.

Does anyone have a better suggestion on how to initially set up the clipper so I can make money with it to fully outfit it?

Looks ok. I tend to run with a a3 shield and use the big slot for more cargo. Don't 5 fight, use your wheels, it's what they are for.

It sounds like you want your clipper as a transport ship instead of the T7 (witch I think is a good Idea, I did that too) so here is what I suggest/had myself as a start out clipper
1) lose the guns (You don't need them when transporting )
2) Sell off the big shield and buy a small 3A shield(enough to take a small beating while bursting away and keep your paintjob pretty if scratcing against the stationwall)
3) you want A graded Powerdistrition not e, c or d...
4) You also want D graded Thrusters, Sensors, Lifesupport, and powerplant(Powerplant needs A if you want weapons on the beast, whitch you can do later after making some more cash) Keep the A-FSD as it is good with long jumpcapability when transporting and if D-grading the rest(exept Powerdistribution) it will also help the long jumps even loaded...

Anyway this is what I had to begin with in my Clipper(I just sold mine yesterday for a python ;) )
