Ships What's better

I don't have a python but I would stay away from anything b rated. They are the heaviest and while c may not be as good they at least save weight before you can afford a.

the python build is much to heavy. the python really need to get down to 50% optimal mass of thrusters. kill bulkheads (you not gonna stay if shields go down), adjust your scb so you get as much MJ as you need.... see, that it's not above 720 tons (ideally). I'd say: flying a a grade python is more fun than a c grade anaconda, as it is more fun to fly an a grade cobra than a c grade asp.

besides that, it's very much a question what you want to do with that builds, what's your gamestyle. python can land on outposts, anaconda can't. for doing solo pvp anaconda is to slow, but it excels in a wing. do you want to go CZ? take a python. want to go RES, take the conda....

or skip them both, and fly a variety of ships.

To each his own. I had a nearly all A-grade Python and an entirely A-grade FDL; I traded both in for a low grade Anaconda similar to what you posted... There is absolutely no PVE comparison in both staying and killing power.

The Anaconda's shield can tank for days, and when they finally chip through a couple rings even a cheapass ship like mine can still stack enough SCBs for 7 full shield recharges. 4 large pulses firing for longer, plus whatever else you put in the other slots, will leave the python's killing power trailing well behind, while the FDL just gets to choke on space dust.

The only real negative is speed -- and if you like flying large, slow ships. I personally enjoy the lumbering style. Some hate it.

Oh, and your build needs moar Shield Boosters. Stack them until you run out of power!

A rated Python easily. A well equipped Python is great to fight with. A moderately equipped Anaconda is kind of frustrating. A well equipped Anaconda is also kind of frustrating come to think of it.

Bigger power distributor needed with that weapon array, the one fitted would drain in about 5 seconds (I get around 10 seconds from a 6A at 60% of that power drain), also fit some turrets to get better firing coverage and perhaps set up different firing groups for small/medium and large ships.

I'd say Python.

Reason: Anaconda is too slow for RES hunting and is best suited for combat zones and taking on Strong Signal Sources.
However, to do what the Anaconda is good at you need a well equipped one which that sadly isn't. Therefore choice has to be Python for now.

If you were going trading or exploring in it first for an extra 50-100mil then maybe straight Anaconda but I personally can't advise that for any heavy combat.

I am leaning toward sticking with the Python til it's done then ill probably get a T9. I had a T6 but when I got the T7 even A rated I really didn't enjoy it.

33 mil to go for my C python. 13 until I get the hull.

Weird. Because I get 10 seconds of constant fire from 4 large pulses with just an 8 C. My secondaries are all multicannons, so if I want I can blast away with them while the main batteries recharge. Turrets are an unnecessary waste of DPS -- not to mention way pricier than gimbaled/fixed. The anaconda is plenty maneuverable as it is; I'd even say I have an easier time getting it into firing position than I did the Python.

Although I'm not 100% sure which ship you are talking about, since one takes a class 7 and the other a class 8 distributor.

I know. The point was the comparison of the 2. But yeh definitely not going to be firing for too long on the 6c even at full pips

My mistake I meant 7A , on the Python it was capable of running full energy weapon fire for around 10 secs, so an 8C on the Anaconda with more weapon energy drain would sustain fire for even less time, I think even an 8A will struggle with that weapon power drain (5.7 mW) the 7A just about copes with 3.7 mW on my Python

My Pythons set up for cargo and light BH so a 5A power plant is enough to run the ship, them SCB's take a serous amount of power just over 25% of the reactor output!

Just so you know, if you go to the Diaguandri system, you'll get a 15% discount on the Python AND all its fittings (and i mean ALL). its got a 15% discount on all fittings and ships (and it DOES sell the Python, T9 and Anaconda i believe)

I got my trading 'Conda there today for around 135M rather than 160M that it should have cost (now an armed anaconda worth 189M and spent 161M on it thanks to the discount)....

So basically don't buy or outfit ANY ships anywhere else unless its a FDL or an imperial ship because they don't sell them there.....

I'd also say that personally i will now always fly a Conda over a T9 for trading... because even though the T9 can fit about 50T more cargo or so in its hold it is also weaker, with a lower jump range and more vulnerable to pirates.

Thanks a bundle. I'll take a look at that today when I get on. I'm in total agreement on the trader ships. The uprated NPCS alone when you carry more cargo is deadly enough. Let alone players

Here's a few more high tech systems in the same region (aligned to Li Yong Rui) Gladutjin, NLTT 13249, PLX 695, Jadlillke and 109 Piscium that offer 15% discount and perhaps the bit of equipment you need.

Just picked her up at Diaguandri stripped her off. Had a little squee around the station. Wow. 20 mil to go to get her minimal then pick up in a sidey ready for action.

All my excitement right now

the good thing is as well all you need is around 20M more to turn it into an armed trader with a full compliment of weapons, shield boosters, chaff, 5A shields and D rated max size thrusters & Power Dist.

Indeed I'm around 15 mill off my C fit dream. Back on later today

Took it E fit with guns and minor tools to see what was what. Things die quick coming from my vulture though the Vulture is a high res god so a nav beacon is nothing to go by.

Loving the Python
