So many unconstructive posts. *shakes head*

Did anyone think to ticket it?

If it is the BGS then its a bug isn't it? Ticket it!

If its people sat there taking and abandoning missions, its a gameplay issue isn't it? Ticket it!

All that is nothing compared to what I've witnessed in BD+56 1773 :

- one day, a civil conflict breaks out between Alliance and the Independents controlling the System and the only Station (for no reason, no matching Influence)
- the next day, the entire System is under Federation Control (the day prior they didn't even have a Federation Faction there)
- the next day, the Alliance took over the Station
- conflict zones are there but there's no 2nd conflict partner at all

The same day during the evening :
- System flips back to Federation
- System flips back to Alliance
- System flips back to Federation but supposedly the Alliance controls the Station
- Station goes back to Federation
- checking a last time 15min later, it's Alliance again

Bizarre.... just bizarre.
If that's telling anything - then it tells that the so-called Background Simulation has its acronym well-deserved...
Did you by chance took screenshots of it?
The same with Nanomam or other systems. Did anyone record it maybe? If so, then a ticket should be submitted.
There are two options possible for this mess- maybe not for BD+56 1773 because this seems to change just too fast. Either the BGS is broken/disabled in certain systems, or there are larger groups in not in open that take influence. Both options are bad, but at least one of those can be ticketed.

Nah, all of them are secretly controlled by thargoids, haven't you heard it? Thargoids can now walk around us as human! :D

It's the old underlying faction system. I enjoyed messing with it a bit as I ranked up with the Empire. I stated in another thread that I had a similar issue. I was able to turn a Independent system to Empire but it flipped back quickly. It was pretty remote so their wasn't anyone accepting and abandoning missions. I think this underlying influence system remained unfinished and powerplay took precedence. It would appear based on a few posts that they have not abandoned it though.

You could try raising the Federation Aligned subfactions in Tollan and LHS 215 and see if any of them trigger a change at Nanomam. If that doesn't work then it would mean that Nanomam needs a station that has a default allegiance to Federation in order to change what you're trying to change. In the scenario I described above the yellow dot switched to blue but the mouse-over still showed the system allegiance as Independent. I checked again today though and surprised to see "MAC OG" is no longer Independent, it is Empire and the color has changed and the mouse-over shows Empire Allegiance. So either there is a delay in updating or it has to be done by hand.

I'm not sure how making changes like this would affect the CC values of exploited systems but it might and maybe they are working on it. Once triggers are met this would give players something else to invest time in if they don't have the resources to risk undermining other power figures. It's like micro fortification.
