What's happening around my headquarters ???

Mystery, mystery .....

I've recently been added ingame with my faction (beggining of september) and everything looked good for us. We had choosen a peaceful area behind the empire systems, far from any PF. But after 2 expansions and having controlled 2 systems, we began to face a strong opposition in our last system. Problem is: the opposition is clearly organised by players but not supporting a player faction. After further investigations i found the same situation in 5 or 6 systems around us (controling faction getting huge influence boost and expansions) but without findind any logic between the factions supported.
I really don't think it comes from a PF preparing expansion because nobody is close to us and powerfull enough to influence so much.
I'm thinking it may be a powerplay community planning something but i'm not sure.
The idea is to understand what's happening there to maybe establish a diplomatic contact.

I'm writting this post to ask for help to determine Who and Why it comes from. Any advice or idea is welcome. If you want to investigate check around HIP 14045 (heart of the problem). I'm also trying to contact managers of big communities to solve this, so any contact is also welcome.

Thanks and fly safe cmdrs !

When did you start facing strong opposition? The BGS is thoroughly broken right now, wrong factions (maybe) getting the influence you're pushing, or whatever is going on. My own faction seems like its getting strong opposition even though we're fairly sure it isn't. No matter how hard we push, influence always goes down.

If it is from players, then I'd suggest ALD might be planning on expanding there. I think she used to own Khonti, but I've been out of it long time so not 100% sure. In which case, they need feudal and patronage factions to be in control of more than 50% of systems in their spheres. The PowerPlay groups are well connected, if one is doing something their allies generally know. The Discord is probably here https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteLavigny/ , though I can't see it, perhaps because I don't have a reddit account any more.

Edit caveat: I've been mostly away since January, so take what I say with some skepticism. I answered mostly because no one else had :p

Just because a faction is not a PMF does not mean it is not player-supported. I, personally, heavily support several dozen factions within a 25 LY sphere of my "home". None of them are PMFs. There are a few PMFs within "my space", including one that just got added in 3.3. I oppose them all, because they have all chosen the wrong allegiance (they're Indie scum) but I'm just one player, so an organized group can easily outgun me. In your case, you're an Indie Democracy, and the "enemy" in HIP 14045 are Indie Communists. Many communist-aligned players don't support any one particular Communist faction, but support communism, generally, wherever they find it. You're on the opposite end of the Bubble to the Manite communist sphere, but there might still be some Reds in the area, opposing you. If you're seeking a diplomatic solution, try getting in touch with the Communist player groups like Communism Interstellar.

Looking at the INARA graph of the system, somebody's worked hard - real hard, for a month back in September-October - to raise that Communist faction from obscurity, overthrow the Imperial ruling faction there and bring the Communists up to the point where they Expanded. They probably aren't too happy with you trying to take their hard-won system away from them.

Thanks for your answer Morded. We are facing oppositon for about two weeks so I don't think the new BGS is the problem even if it's possible that it contributes making it bigger because things seems worse thoose last days.

The systems aronud us show BGS activities since the beginig of november on INARA graphics.
I'm in contact with the BGS keepers of Aisling community and they explain me this thing about 50% systems in their influence bubble. This can explain part of the BGS activity since november but they left the region about two weeks ago, just when things turned bad for us. They also confirm not having any intention coming back soon to control Mehnemind. For Arissa i don't know, I'll check if I find something on the discord.

Sapyx, what you say is indeed a possibility but the players working on BGS in the area support different kind of factions and not only communists. Looking INARA i'm quite sure it's the same players because everything began at the same time (so far i've find Mimisina, Susano, Vertnyi, Malsunghus, Cerrodi and Gliese 9086).

For the ''Why'' except PP strategy I really don't see. For the ''Who'', communists is not the answer, Arissa maybe.

Mystery remaining until now.

Check the economic and security sliders. The factions getting high inf should also be getting big slider changes.
If you have anything like us, sliders and inf gain are not related, so the bug is obvious. Influence (only) in many cases seems to be vanishing, meaning the other factions are gaining by minimum, unintentional random traffic (or maybe worse and getting the lost inf)

Sliders in HIP 14045 are increasing and the influence too. Our efforts to mission for our faction only seems to slow down our loss of influence (from 30% to less than 5% in two weeks). Crossing those informations with the traffic report, I'm sure there is a human intervention behind it.
I'll check the sliders for the other systems in the list.

The MF my small group has been supporting was sitting at just over 30% prior to 3.3.
New comers to the BGS but really enjoying it.
We are losing about 2% a tick no matter how much work we put in.
We've went from hope of flipping the system to thinking of walking away.
Think I'll go and see what rest of 3.3 has to offer and start again when/if the BGS settles down

HIP 14045 is within the 15 Ly Powerplay control radius from Mehnemind, which until recently was an Aisling control system.

Communist is a favourable government type for Aisling, so I expect the communist faction was promoted by Aisling players.

Mehnemind is no longer as Aisling system. It was deliberately dumped 2 weeks ago as a non-profitable system. So, the previous strong support for the communist faction was very likely due to Powerplay, but it has probably ended now.

And is the bulk (or all) of the daily influence change going to the System Controlling faction instead?

I've checked witth Arissa's community and it's not coming from them. We were already in contact with Aisling BGS keepers since we expanded there, i've double check we them and it's not coming from them neither.

In our case yes the influence we loose is going to the controlling faction, that's why (with the triggers increasing also) I think it's not about the actual BGS instability. We'll see if anything changes with today's BGS patch but I don't have much hope about that.
