What's in a name? "Guardians"

Why is launching a fighter a better defensive move than just high waking out, particularly if you are flying a poorly armed trader/passenger ship?

It makes absolutely no sense to me. :S

I continue to like to think it will refer to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" - an alien species protecting us (and themselves) from another alien species intent on interstellar destruction. Probably using those wretched barnacles we have been destroying, with the unknown probes being their RVs/ UAVs

Yea, my initial attempt at using Ship Launched Fighters will be as "Guardians" for my Beluga Passenger liner, and my Type-9 miner.

It's not - nobody said it was. It's all about options.

Well, I suppose technically that IS an answer.

The option to die rather than escape? Where do I sign? :D

In all seriousness, if that's the 'headline' feature of this new expansion then it's a big disappointment to me. Like many others here, I expected the "Guardians" to refer to something non-human, particularly with the alien ship teasers.

Not sure I've seen this discussed, but:

Who are The Guardians?
And more importantly what are they guarding?

(tin-foil hat applied)

The dark wheel and the other shady factions of course.
Also the politicians of the feds, alliance and imps,
keeping their people free from being self-determined
and free of thought.

Ok what happens if your passengers, and I refer ONLY to passengers here, want to visit a site in a system? You get intericted and High wake out, I bet you the passengers will not be happy. I suspect that if you do a vip job and they want to go to A, and you jump to the system then high wake out after interdiction, that the VIP will throw a hissy fit as the programme will say (go to site A once in system. If that doesn't happen, then negative.) I suspect jumping out will cause it to believe you are not going to do the task.

For cargo who cares do what you like,m but I bet for passengers it will be difficult to high wake out.

With the ability to only launch "One" fighter at a time I think a more correct name/title should be "Guardian" without the "s".

Guardians are the Thargoids, who have been thoroughly trying to protect younger races, like Humanity, from something terrible hidden in the darkness of the Milky Way, something that already eradicated races like the one on Soontill or the one that created the relic found in space in 2280s.

But of course since we, as a whole, are a bunch of spoiled ADHD on sugar brats we tried to bite the protecting hand and both Thargoids and Humans are going to pay for this.

The guardians are obviously the hardcore fans trying to protect the immersion and core values of the game at all costs in the forums.

Do you know how many collective hours of sleep were lost on this?

Which is ironic, as probably the most immersion breaking action is to engage on the forums.... ;)
