So with some time spent in each of the new ships, I can definitely say I'm most impressed with the FAS. It did get me thinking about the purpose of the imperial eagle and I was curious what others had tried? Is this thing just a starter ship with a little extra beef? Kind of bummed the Feds got some really premium feeling stuff while we sort of got more of what we already have. Small fighters. Does it have any advantages you've found over say, the vulture, once your credit bank is sizeable enough to afford either choice. I admittedly did not fly one for very long, because it made me miss my large pulse lasers.

It's just a beefed up eagle. A faction specific combat alternative to the viper though it's kinda fragile and lacks the punch with its firepower to effectively put down anything much bigger than an Asp. On the bright side anything you can't kill you can run away from with its 420+ boost / 320+ cruise speeds.
To be fair, the imperials already had the clipper and the courier. Two ships that are great within their own right. While feds only had the Dropship. I still think the imperials have the better overall selection.
Have to wait and see what the fed corvette and the imperial counterpart are like.

Well really its more about the variety the Feds now have. The clipper is a larger courier, I honestly feel like the FAS set a new standard of performance in class. The gunship is a totally different animal and viable in different ways, the FDS may be somewhat lackluster but the other two are more than a match for imperial counterparts, while the feds didn't end up with a beefed up starter. Just feel a little cheated as an imperial is all. You had a chance to give each faction their own stuff and really took sort of an easy way out. I hope the feds get a jacked up starter and we get something that competes against the gunship besides the Cutter and Vette which are each other's counterparts.

Keep in the mind the Feds get crappy weapons while the Imperials get Prismatic Shield Generators and the Imperial Hammer.
The feds have 3 versions of basically the same ship
While imperials have 3 different ships following the same design philosophy.
