When I first started playing Elite Dangerous, the game was very good. It had many features and looked epic. But since then, the game hasn't really developed much. I mean, the power-play was some form of development of the game but for those who have played all the past Elite games by now I would have expected a bit more. Some things such as:
- Military FSD's and Fuel. For those who have played past games, you could have different types of FSD's to make the ship work differently and have a new style of flying with different fuel, such as higher speeds.
- Global Bulletin Boards. For example the 3 major factions would have missions on the BB that would be faction wide. Such as sending a bounty hunter to kill a target on the outer rim, or to help control a new system. Bounty hunting in ED is just shooting fish in a barrel, mainly at nav points and extraction sites, as its just shooting whatever turns up. This is not bounty hunting, its farming. But its the only source of income. What needs to happen, is to have large bounties of 4-5 million, to go out and find, and so you can go find this person, alone or with friends in a wing. It becomes worth your while, whereas at the moment the BB missions have no real money in them.
- Crew Members and More Ship Dynamics. In past Elite's you could have crew members to manage and you would have to look after them, and manager/change them. This feature, is missing, and considering we have huge ships like the Anaconda, it seems stupid to have one guy controlling the whole ship.
- 20Mil ship Vs 2 40k ships. If in a Clipper and faced with 2 eagles/vipers , no matter what your ability of fighting, they are still [somehow] able to damage the shields enough to make a difference. This seems a bit stupid. Also, if you have a ship like a anaconda, it would make sense for it to have a ridiculous amount of guns on it, compared to the 8 it has, of which 2 of them are SMALL???? Even the ability to add hardpoints to a ship, or using money to change a small to medium hardpoint would be useful.
Elite Dangerous, although has made improvements from its starting point, the add-ons, rather than moving the game in a certain direction, which David Braben had decided at the start of the game, it seems to be making updates based on what people are complaining about. And rather than this moving the game forward, it seems that every update just moves the goal posts, rather than moving the game forward.
This just my opinion of the game, I still enjoy playing it in some ways, but I do believe things need to move on...
