Whats rarer, a new Cobra mk4 or a Unicorn Mk1?

Hi, This might sound numpty but Ive been looking off and on over the last few weeks for a mk4 Cobra... Has anyone seen any lately being sold at stations? Anywhere? So far Ive only been around surrounding systems / stations near Synteini where eddb.io had reported them (apx 6 places). Even one station having them potentially being avail mins before I then turn up when I find they are not there.. So Im beginning to wander if they are real (to buy) on my server anymore. Im not running the Beta Fleet carriers - just the normal Horizons on PC. Anyway before I throw in any more effort running around wasting too much time (yeh, I know thats what this game is partly about) - if someone could say "yeh, they are still out there.." then at least I know I can keep on wasting my time but for the right reasons... Thanks.

The Cobra MkIV is an exclusive reward for Elite Dangerous players who upgraded to Elite Dangerous: Horizons during its first year.[2] It is only available to PC players who purchased Horizons before February 5, 2016 (this also includes Lifetime Expansion Pass holders), and to Xbox One players who purchased the Horizons season pass before July 30, 2016. Players who met these requirements can obtain the ship in-game from stations using credits.[3] PlayStation 4 players currently do not have any means to access the Cobra MkIV. Frontier Developments have no plans to make the Cobra MkIV available to other players.

So, without a means of travelling back in time, you won't ever get one....

You can't get one, and you're not missing much - if anything. I put the Cobra mk 4 in the same box as the Viper mk 4 and Diamondback Scout. Apart from some very niche builds and tasks, they all pretty useless, and they're all very much favoured by losers.

Thanks both. Makes sense. Ok I just wanted something a bit bigger to hold and haul than the mk3. ..Who knows what might become rare next then - maybe fleet carriers...!

Thanks all. Yeh Python will do me - Im at the dizzy heights of owning a mk3 Cobra at the mo so anything with a little bit more would do - its mainly for mining (to then get a decent Krait II) so as you say the Python works (assuming they dont lock that one down soon!). It was just that I hadnt seen the mk4 Cobra anywhere and fancied a go.
To recap / answer your other q's here - Yes as you say the lack of the mk4 Cobra makes sense here as I only bought the PC Dangerous Horizons a few weeks back (then got the mk3). Although to be fair - I had the C64 version of Elite back in the 1980s, which was long before Feb 2016, in fact it was probably before some of the Fdevs here were even born! So I should surely still be eligible! ;-p Got the Xbox version a few years back too (which I think did have the mk4 in - cant remember) but just started over again on the PC.

Count me in as one of those losers.
The MV4 is basically a MK 3 with more internal slots. If you want more internals but still a small ship, Viper MK4 or move to medium size.
My personal preference in enjoying the Cobra is because they are the iconic ship of elite stories.

its basically a Ferrari with a Suzuki engine fitted inside it which is sacrilege in my book …………………..
its potential was nerfed at concept(poor thing) as they did not want it to steal a classic cobras thunder to which in that endeavour they succeeded...…..
and hence I don't fly one.

A Type 6 is a better miner than a Cobra, then the next ship should be a T7. There's no need for a Python or Krait. Don't fight pirates. When they come to the mining rings, just wait for them to go, and if they interdict you, boost away with 4 pips to engines and 2 to shields, and drop a heatsink to break target lock.

I'd look at the asp's before the python, you'd need be in 70+mil range to outfit and run a python, but the asp's are in the area of 20-30mil.

If you are looking exclusively for more cargo a type6 would do you well for not much more than a cobra mk3
