Hardware & Technical What's the best gaming keyboard costing around the 50 quid mark (max £100)?

I'm in the market for a new keyboard, had a qpad that came with my previous PC build back in 2012. The "A" key gave up the ghost earlier on this year so I've been using a wireless logitech, which is ok but not brilliant and batteries went during a game session that caused some issues so I want to go back to wired.

So does anyone have any recommendations as I've looked and bejaysus there's SO many out there.

I'd like a couple of USB outputs for convenience but not a hard requirement, backlit keys would be nice as well. Mechanicals look to be out of my budget for the most part, but If any one can recommend a good cheapish one I'll have a gander.

I have a Logitech G413 Carbon and found it pretty great. No overblown "gam3r" stuff, no RGB, only comes in black/red lighting or silver/white lighting, very compact, metal construction (don't rage quit with that, you'll do damage 😅 ), mechanical keys but not the clicky ones for the sake of being clicky. Can be found around the 60-70 € ballpark down here, maybe can be a bit less above there.

I have a Razer Ornata. It is not mechanical, but it does have a funny key that still gives a click. I've had mine for four years now and it is still working great. I play MMOs as well so you can imagine how much I smash my keys in raids.

There's now a V2 version and it is currently right at the top of your budget on Amazon.

I seriously recommend it. It is quite a unique keyboard that does the job really well. It also has full RGB lighting so you can do what you will there.

The one it does not have is USB ports, but honestly I rarely see these on non-mecha' keyboards.

I use the Logitech G910. Had it for over a year and it's been a solid unit. It has rgb but it defaults to backlit blue and you can set it to whatever color you want with the software. You can also turn the light off with a keyboard button. Keyboard also has media controls and macros.

thanks lads some good options to narrow my focus. :)

GroG79, to answer your question.....I don't really know. I suppose someting that's more precise and less "spongy" than this logitech wireless!! Back in the day when PCs were steam powered it was easy to pick a keyboard, now the choice is mind boggling!!

I use Cherry keyboards - I prefer the MX Blue switches and these are used in many other manufacturer's boards too.

P.S. In case you are in a situation where the audible click from MX Blue switches could be a problem, the other colour versions don't have that.
