CQC What's the best way to get someone off your tail?

Hug the asteroids and structures as closely as you dare. The structures in particular can be used to play hide and seek. Also keep your eyes peeled for power up rings, the shield boost power-up buys you some time and the speed up one can help you immensely.

This. If you know your ship and maneuvering capabilities, you can be a nightmare for people trying to chase you, especially in CTF. It also helps to know your environment such as where shafts may split and the various building's holes and slots you can fly in and around of.

Different ships turn different. Usually pitch is the quickest. Distance reduces magnitude, and speed increases distance. Strafing makes it harder to hit.

Keeping the throttle in the blue zone, hit boost, then use all power to turn around and return fire or overshoot the opponent from the front. (Flight assist could be disabled in this situation, or all thrusters used to maximize the turn.)
If aim-assist is available, then roll to keep the opponent in view of your turrets (minimally affecting the actual trajectory). If not, then reversing will provide more fire-time, while accelerating will reduce incoming damage. Countermeasures will have their greatest effect at the slowest point of the escape. Also, it couldn't hurt to add some pips to ENG.

Another tip: Pull hard pitch and then hit boost. This will increase the rate of rotation much faster for a few seconds. Doing it the other way 'round (boost and then turn) gives you the opposite effect, once you are moving too fast it takes you longer to rotate.

One difference a rift makes is that you can see just how close you can get to the terrain. On a 2d screen objects appear much closer than they are, which causes pilots to fly well clear of obstacles. The closer you are, the harder it is for an enemy to gain position on you.

If you don't have a rift I guess you can practice by getting closer until you scrape.

Normally I stick to cover as much as possible in the condor if im in the open and I got on on my 6 first thing i do is put power into my shields and engines, and its always a good idea to not try and run on first instinct. it makes you an easier target, rather try slowing to reverse and make them reposition their run. Keep in the blue to turn better and try to keep them in your sights and use your laterals to keep out of their arc. That 9 times out of 10 will make them run once they see you turned the fight into your advantage giving you an easy save kill. If you rnear the station however, just use the obstacles to your advantage. Rails pipes, the tunnels, keep full power to engines to boost often around corners. and if you want to be really crafty you can always find a place to stop and make them fly right past you ;)

Flight Assist OFF, Full Reverse, then boom boom is my goto play for shaking a bogie.

Pretty much.

In a Condor, just put the throttle in the blue, hit FA-Off, reverse (or boost, either works) and not even another Condor can stay right behind you. I love that the Condor is so light and agile, you can do a FA off reverski ("faffverski"?) and if you find yourself backing into the station you have enough thrust to pull out of it and go in another direction at any time.

The best way is to fly like this...

damn, he's good.

What has been most effective for me is using speed to quickly maneuver around obstructions breaking line of site and quickly doubling back or changing my vector to throw them off.The trick is to keep boosting and keep the turns really really tight around the structures, once you have enough distance slow it down to get rid of your smoke trail and change your vector, or simply wait for them to pass. Once I know I'm safe I'll pip my shields and generally try to stay out of sight until my shields are back up. If you get caught under fire in open areas pop some chaff or silent running and quickly turn towards some cover, then start juking. You have to be a good pilot and be able to utilize every field of movement to pull this off properly, a dual joystick or HOTAS setup is recommended. It also greatly helps if you have additional situational awareness with something like TrackIR or a VR headset.

By doing the above I rarely die in games unless my team is outnumbered or severely outclassed.

My load out is the Condor with balanced engines, laser resistant shields and everything else is stock.
