whats the big deal about this?

I hear people talking about twin Earth like systems and I see missions for passengers wanting to go a kabillion lightyears away to see one. I have seen a few in the bubble... lol... Heck this one I found the two planets are actually really close.... So, what is the big deal exactly? Not being a smart #%@, really asking... lol...

they are rare dude, like crazy rare

also give me the name of that system

Beyond being a statistical rarity ?
Nothing really.
In terms of gameplay relevance they're no more significant than binary rocky worlds or gas giants. (perhaps this will change in the future, nobody knows)
Other than being more lucrative when handed in to universal cartographics.

Yeah, what's the big deal of finding a bundle of hundred Dollar bills in the middle of the Sahara, after all? I was asking myself the same question ;)

As said before, those in the bubble are mostly if not all terraformed. Naturally occuring ones are rare as can be.

Binary ELWs are pretty rare out in the wild, though I have discovered and tagged a few of them now. They seem a bit more common than ringed ELWs, from my experience, of which I've only tagged one so far.

Binary ELW are rare. I've discovered them, but statistically they are very rare and quite the treat to discover. Ringed ELW are crazy rare and if you find even one, outside of the bubble, you're doing extremely well.

I've only ever found one ringed ELW, in what is now over a year out in the black (one nine-month trip, one three month, and I'm now back out again).

I know I've mentioned this before elsewhere, so apologies if I'm repeating myself to anyone here, but finding this beauty that not one, but two other Commanders somehow previously missed between the bubble and Colonia was a real treat and quite the surprise indeed! :)

I can only guess that they were too busy racing out to Colonia or back again to pay close enough attention to notice it.

When I set off on the Distant Worlds Expedition the one thing I really wanted to discover was a ringed ELW. I ended up getting first discovery on two. I couldn't believe my luck. Then I set off on the first CG to Colonia & bagged another ringed ELW.
If I never find another, I consider myself very privileged.

Python needs a lick of paint and a shammy leather! She's seen some action by the look of it.

ELW are a result of randomization by the stellar forge. Besides scanning them they provide zero other forms of interaction compared to any other rock floating in space. More busy work for the shutterbugs I guess.

Aye, 'fraid they've been skimping on paint coat thickness or durability blends at the stations. Micrometeoroids seem to do a number on my ships rather quickly of late.

Not random, procedural, and there are other factors which play into the likelihood of finding them. Haven't found one around a brown dwarf, for example.

It's a bit of a treasure hunt of sorts.

Neither have I. Found loads out in the neutron fields orbiting all kinds of oddness. Found a triple ELW system but it was a binary star system with 2 orbiting one parent and one orbiting the other, on the lookout for 3 in orbit of one parent or a ternary system with one in orbit of each parent for the full set now.

Binaries appear to occur in less than 4.7% of systems that contain ELWs, at least out of the sampling I've gathered. So... they're rare.

You found trinary ELWs? Nice. :)

This is probably my favorite system I've found so far in the game, but no ELWs though. Just terraformable terrestrial water worlds with life. I think one of the passenger missions goes out there now. Need to get back sometime and take some lucky few out there. Wonder if they'll pay extra for getting taxied around by the explorer that found the place. ;)
