Whats the deal with hull integrity?

For 1, why is the damn repair hidden in advanced maintenance?

Does fuel scooping cause damage? I left SOLbubble for 2 days 10,000ly trip. I took no damage of any kind. No overheat no neutron stars no shield damage either.
After my trip my hull was 74% . Just curious how the the hell that happened and how would my asp even survive a long distance exploration.

Or is this another Feeeeaaturee where your ship just randomly breaks down. Last week disengaging docking clamps inside a starport made my Asp exploded.
There was no npc docking I just exploded... undocking.. 3A shields suck but they were 100%

Never had any issue with my Asp exploding at lift off. With full shields yet? Doesn't sound right...

Integrity is damaged by distance travelled in SC. Just honk scooping will do virtual no damage to it as you don't travel far.
Even when it is 0% it only represents a weakening of your hull to other damage by iirc about 30%

Just flying around in super cruise does it. You can't avoid it. I don't know what it does for sure, but have heard the lower it is, the more damage you take from combat or running in to stuff.

I didn't get into any fights. No interdictions no emergency stops.
1 day of supercruise and a hull loss of 26%? Whats the Asp made from, balsa wood?

Your overall hull health at 0% integrity is 70% of what it is at 100% integrity. Was added to the game as a money sink for flying your ship (like road tax) and at one point was very expensive; dialed way back now like only 10% of what it was, so more a nuisance really to remember to do it.
