Newcomer / Intro what's the deal with low volume goods

hi all,
Can I just wait in station for goods to reappear or do I have to either go and do something else or log off (and get a coffee n cake) and log back on?
Also is there a time limit on said goods and does it depend on the type of goods or population of the system or station?

A good just reappeared so its a sit n wait job!

CMMs (i.e. regular goods) or Rares? Complicated in either way. Goods have a spawn rate that will create a new bunch every xx minutes (similar to missions, but I do nort know if it's the same timer). The spawn rate is set by FD, the owner faction state and station economy. Sometimes, the spawned materials will show up by simply opening the commodites menu, other times you will need to drop to desktop and restart the game - or anything inbetween.

With rares, you have the additional complication that you get a CMDRs allocation, i.e. there is only a limited amount of rares that you may have in your hold and, independent of the supply, you will only be offered as a maximum the difference between that allocation and your current inventory state.
