What's the first animal you will buy on release?

I'm just so excited for release, thinking up all my plans for my first franchise zoo. I have so many different ideas.

So I'm wondering, based on the animals we know will be in game (and maybe some we think will be in game), what's the first animal you will buy for your franchise zoo?

I'm a bit stuck. I want to build a "bare bones" zoo until I get up enough money to renovate it how I want. I know what exhibits i want near the front of my final zoo, including hippos, timber wolves, grizzly bears, red pandas, and pangolins (thinking we'll get these).

In a way I want an animal that will reproduce quickly first (so maybe be wolves), but I absolutely adored my hippos from my beta zoo. I miss them so much! So a part of me just wants to throw caution to the wind and get them first and name them after my beta hippos. Might be a bad idea, though, since they take 5 years to grow up.

Still a part of me is curious about the red pandas since I obviously didn't have them in my beta zoo...

I can´t tell untill the release, since we do not know yet what kind of animals will be in the game. I am also super excited, I feel like a little kid counting the days until birthday.
probably peafowls would be nice so the guests can start their tour with a walkthru habitat. Not sure yet, I try not to think too much about it now

I’m probably going to start with reptiles/exhibits first. I started my beta zoo with tortoises and spiders and made quite a bit of money pretty quickly. I want the first zone/ entrance of my zoo to be a reptile area and then branch out into different biomes/continents. So either the saltwater crocodile, either species of tortoises, or anacondas will most likely be my first animals depending on prices, availability, and genetics on the trade market.

I really don't know - it all depends on what's available. I do like the wolves though and will probably go with them because I know how to make them breed...

Antelope too are quite easy.

However, since I play with my son, I will probably have to go with Lemurs again.....

I don't know yet, I'm thinking smaller animals like reptiles or tortoises. But also contemplating zebras or gazelles. I honestly don't know yet Hahah 😂

I like to start with animals i can buy with cash, so it'll depend what male/female pairs for cash i can find first. Ostriches are one that have worked well for me. Hippos, surprisingly, i was able to get for cash during early beta and start a breeding population and that worked well too

this may vary once the game releases and there are more animals, but i'm still going to focus on ones i can pick up for cash at the start

I don't plan my franchise, as I'll go with the flow there and see what animals are cheap to buy and still rather attractive to guests. For my first sandbox, however, I will start with Galapagos Tortoises. Zoos usually don't have their big ticket animals right at the entrance, so I will start slow - litterally.

Since my Sandboxzoo will have the background story of starting as a rescue centre and slowly working its way up to an actual zoo due to successful breeding, I will make sure my tortoises will be rescues or custom seizure.

Depends on the available cash animals..

Most likely starting out with Tortoises, Crocodiles, other reptiles, but building from the middle to back (straight line). So when I branch out to right or left, I could make areas focused on continent or type..

Most likely the African animals will be the next round of zoo expansion..

See the Golden Poison rog reveal video which might give a hint to costs - 5000 leaves plus for a snow leopard - I would suggest the leaves were reduced by a factor of 100 in beta. if this is true - and id guess credits where to so buying a big ticket animal will be very hard

A couple of peafowl, maybe a single tortoise (lives ages so can get its mate later and start research now) and a couple of beetles Id suggest without a loan

Tbh I'd actually be really happy if these animals required more cc in the full release. It would give me something to really work for, over several weeks, to get those big ticket animals.

I am hoping for flamingos. I really like how the colorful (and smelly) birds greet the visitors at the San Diego Zoo. I think it’s nice that visitors can see a flamboyance (or a pat) of flamingos right when they enter the zoo before they decide where they want to go next because there are several different paths to choose from at this point.

For a franchise game, my picks would be:

1st: Peafowls.
  • They're cheap, and they bring in a ton of cash.
  • In a moderate biome they won't need any expensive heating or cooling.
  • They require a simple habitat that can fit in well at the entrance to a zoo.
2nd: Whatever I fancy at the time that fits in with the biome I choose and that has a high attraction rating to low cost ratio.

That way I'll have guests coming in to see the high attraction animal and consistent money coming in from the peafowls.

I'm sure there will be other combinations that make just as much sense, but I made a killing from my peafowls in the beta without even trying, so it makes sense to do the same again.

I'll start with the Career mode, so I will probably buy a pair of common warthogs first. After that some ostriches, and then some tigers and peafowls. The same will probably apply to my first franchise park, as those animals will be cheap and I'd like to start fresh with a simple zoo and grow towards a bigger zoo from there.

Not long to go now until the release... 😁

I will start in sandbox mode to get a feel for how everything works and I imagine I’ll do the vast majority of my zoo building like that.

The first ever (if I remember correctly) ZT2 show and tell I ever did was an Asiatic black bear enclosure and they are such cute animals in Planet Zoo so I will probably start with the Formosan black bear.

I have already designed my zoo on paper, and I really want to start out in sandbox mode. I'll probably start out with the tortoise, seeing as I've planned their habitats quite close to the entrance. Then I'll try and find the animals for each section and build like that.
