whats the optimal position for PD's on an anaconda?

I just bought an anaconda and I must say, the bottom of the ship is a mess. It feels like I need to put PD's in every utitltiy slot facing the bottom to get proper coverage.

regarding the top part opf the hull, would placing two PD's at the slots near the bridge be sufficient?

Don't put any on the bottom. Two on the upper rear of the ship will give you good coverage from anything above the ship, and you should be trying to face any incoming fire until you can escape.

If you're worried about hatchbreakers, ECM is a much better defense against those.

how do I know hatchbreakers are close enough to be hit by an ECM?

In combat put one in the top and another on the bottom only if you lose your shields then NPCs start firing missiles at you. Going to a Guardian site one on the top will help your SRV get around with the Point Defense taking out any incoming missiles. But if you engineered an Anaconda and know how to fly it you will never need Point Defense.
