Whats the point of buying skins?

I'm absolutely fine with micro transactions that mainly serve as cosmetic enhancement.
In other words, no pay to win.

Would love to have other personalization options for offer at the web shop.
Its an honest way for Frontier to make some side credits, and i do not mind that at all.

After all, it's completely optional.

Although... I COULD see a station with NO open letterbox and you have to own a certain decal to get in, like a pirate base.

IF it was something that could be obtained trough mission running for example.
Missions involving piracy.

These types of things should not be bought. But earned. Specially decals, kinda like insignia's.

I have no issue with earned privileges.
I do have issues with bought ones.

I'm miffed that I missed the flags (just bought the game a week ago)
I'm a Brit living in Canada I would like to fly the Union jack.
I hope they bring out a flag package .... one flag for all the ships.
And yes I drive my FJ Cruiser with the personal plate LOL

Look, at the end of the day its all about money, if they released a 3rd person view tomorrow then sales of skins would go through the roof, so it will happen sooner rather than later. Also, 3rd person view will generate lots of pretty screenshots from the thousands of users which will be posting pretty pictures all over social media (twitter, facebook etc.) generating interest in the game and pushing up sales of the game (and in turn skins and other micro-transactions).

Anyway, fear not, there will be a 3rd person view released as mentioned above - and I think it will be included at time of release... If the "Anti external viewer brigade" don't like it, then just don't use it - that way your "immersion" will not be spoilt - until you have to pick the kids up from school, talk to the wife, take the rubbish out, pause the game and go and have dinner with the family etc..

I don't like how the debug camera works. Can't get it to move around efficiently. Again, imo, another example of an unfinished product called ED.

Umm, you mean like the hundreds of beautiful screenshots posted over at inara on a day to day basis, without a 3rd person camera? But hey, if you guys want a 3rd person view, so be it. But then let it be a proper one. No HUD, no targeting reticles, not speed display, just the ship from the back. There you go, 3rd person camera mode.

EDIT: dammit, I should have date checked.. bloody thread necromancers :(

For those people who paid a lot of money for the game (I payed 120 Euro), in my opinion should have access to all skins for free.

You can swap to the camera to see, also you will be able to see your ship from your SRV
.
As said earlier it is a little like a personalised number plate, I have one not because I want to see it but because I like others seeing it
.
I have one skin so far and it is a vanity skin - pure and simple
