I’ve been working on one single zoo since the release date and so far it only contains 10 different habitats and 13 species. Because I’m going very slowly, I like to alternate habitat building with beautification and construction building for visitor, I’ve always been able to have vets researching on the animals for the “bonus research”. The thing is that nothing is ever unlocked...I don’t know if this is a bug or something that still has to be implemented or is just not working for me.
What’s the purpose of “advanced research”?

I've wondered about this, but since I am still researching stuff and none of my staff is fully trained, I wasn't worrying about it yet. Maybe once I run out of things to occupy my time, I shall worry. Maybe not. But I am still curious about the answer.

Isn't it so that completed 'advanced research' does speed-up the related research in a follow-up zoo of the same franchise?

Really? If that’s the case I’m shocked, didn’t know about this one. I’m not able to say so cause I only have 1 franchise zoo at the moment but I could try for the sake of it!
My understanding is that it just gives you more information in the zoopedia...that's it.
It certainly doesn't help with research in other zoos, or if it does it isn't at all noticeable so is super minor.

All I found was that having a vet do advanced research on an animal increases their fertility/chance of offspring. I tried this with an almost-infertile 'albino' African elephant and it seemed to help, because at first he would mate and there'd be no offspring and after I activated advanced research he managed to fertilize a female. But other than that? I have no idea. I did have one vet do advanced research on one animal before I tried this with the elephants and it did absolutely nothing as far as I could tell. I though it would unlock something after a while, but I couldn't find anything. Please explain what advanced research does, Frontier!
I had my Zoo for around 100 years now and the researcher got put on research for the Flamingos. He is in "advanced" Research for the birds for over 80 years now and it did nothing. It didnt raise the education% of the guests nor did it made them happier.
I dunno what is wrong with it but my guess is, that its not fully implemented yet...
