what's up with high intensity conflict zones

seems way too ridiculously unfair, as soon as i attack one enemy, i seem to get 3-4 on me at once, firing missiles too. i don't stand a chance in my puny sidewinder, unless i'm not meant to?

Based on you being in the starter ship and the words "high intensity", I'll hazard a guess that you're not meant to.
