What's up with the Doors?

Yeah, I get it.

Devils advocate here but this is probably QoL for people not needing to rotate and just needing to select the other door. I get the impression that this pack isn't aimed at "advanced users" and is instead targeted at people who want to just put stuff together super quick. I look at this pack and almost all the scenery is pre-baked into the building/gridded items, then I look at something like the adventure pack and almost none of it is gridded. Maybe this is a side-effect of the previous packs being very bespoke, but deep, and this pack being very wide but shallow due to the need to cover 10 themes and only having their 300ish pieces to cover the whole DLC?

tl;dr it is probably QoL for ease of use

But if you look closer. Some doors are like this. Some aren't. So there's no consistency. You could say they did it this way for ease of use.. But then you have others in the same dlc that are just one single door for both sides. Which would not be as you said.. For less than advanced users. I was going to put this under bugs.. But.. It didn't seem to be a Good fit for it there.. And they probably wouldn't even give it a second thought as a bug. This really just seems to be more of a quality control issue which I am bringing to their attention so they aim for better. That's all. There are just so many problems and missed opportunities in this dlc. Apparently.. So far from A few comments I have gotten. A few people seem to be taking it personal which it isn't. This is a general concern. The video is to show exactly in detail the issue instead of trying to describe it.

Ha, good spot. That’s the thing that aggrieves me the most about this update. They celebrate it as 300 plus set however 15-20% is shop signage and a good proportion are duplicates either like your video or simply in terms of scaling.

However I still love it and I’ll still use it!

YES! That was very disappointing!

The two different door versions (left and right) are implemented very well and I like it. When placing down the door frame you just click on the two different doors and angle snap them into position in the frame (press and hold f to activate the angle snap). When doing this both doors are in the exact correct position. To open the doors you just have to rotate them then. If there would have been only one door (not left and right) it would have annoyed me. This way it is easier to build and takes less time.[big grin]

Why there are only one versions for other doors is beyond my knowledge.[big grin]

Yeah, why do that for 1 door and not the rest? he explains all the other doors that have the handle on one side and don't have a left and right version, its odd.

OK... See so this would be a logical explanation except for this. Try placing t down the classic car.. Then turn convertible top. So it's backwards.. Press f... It locks into place backwards. The same thing could most likely be done with the doors they snap to place how they are turned. This one door is completely a duplicate with two names. And then we have other doors they could have put the handle on both sides for less pieces and I would think less resources and time that can be used for making other things. Then we have another door that they literally did the right thing on.. One door.. Handle on both sides. No duplicate piece.

I love the doors. And the shutters.. Those are some of my favorite new pieces. Just logic goes completely out the window here.. Or... At least out the door.. :)

Yesterday I build that 50s car and the F-snap worked perfect with the top cover and wheels for me. I didn't have to rotate anything. Maybe I was just lucky [big grin]

Edit: I think the snapping problem was already fixed with a patch: https://forums.planetcoaster.com/showthread.php/34430-Update-1-8-1

No. I think you misunderstood. I'm not saying it snaps backwards automatically. I am saying If you rotate it.. It Will snap backwards. I also tried the doors.. And they do the same thing.. It will snap to either side depending on how you have it rotated. Which makes having two of the same door pointless. They are nice doors... But I don't need two of the exact same item.

Well its not the door handle thats the issue. Its theres a duplicate item in the game with two names. Plus they could have saved work and piece count for other items if they had just put the door handle on both sides for all the pieces.
