What's with all the checkpoints in and near eravate?

Logged into the game just to see a crapton of checkpoints and "supplies needed" things everywhere.
What is it and why is it there? Something big 'bout to happen?

on the right panel under factions is there a state thats active, economic boom, civil war and so forth if so thats why

I've seen something about an economic boom. Yet I have not a single idea what it is.
Mind explaining?

What is it that checkpoints actually do? Considering one can just.... fly around them...

I think idea of them is that you can enter one and help system or major faction security in killing wanted npcs.

There'll be more combat in your system when they're there and then when civil war comes, you'll have the combat zones.

That's the only reason I can think of.
