First off, I don't play in Open. Never will. I have NO desire to share a game universe with some of the AHs I have witnessed posting here recently. :rolleyes:

Having said that, I really don't understand all of the crying/whining/teeth gnashing about the quantity of players/targets in Open. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read on here somewhere that there can only be 20 or so players in one instance at any given time?

So if the instance will only support 20 players at a time, then it doesn't matter if there are 20, 200, 2000, or even 20,000 players in Open at any give point in time because you will only see a maximum of 20 targets...err...players at any one time.

Period.

Can we close these threads now? ;) :D

We needed more merry go rounds than just a single thread about this topic.

Of course the same merry go round occurs..."we want more targets in Open so FDEv must do something before this game dies!" vs "The devs have clearly stated over and over that this is a feature of the game and not a design mistake"....round and round it goes!

Most seem to be a version of a 5 yr olds foot stomping, red faced tantrum while yelling "they won't play with me; make them play with me or take away their ball." Very cosmopolitan. Very persuasive. I be right over....yeah.

I am rather full of popcorn by this time...and beer.

They are just upset at the massive migration players to PG's to avoid station griefers, meta FDLs that shoot up sideys and unarmed traders and system blockades.

Mobius having to open another PG to accommodate the influx of people leaving open speaks volumes.

Yeah, perhaps if they had a modicum of decency things might be different.

I suspected as much, but was just wondering why someone didn't just point out to these griefers that they are only going to see (at most) 20 at a time anyway. Seems pointless to ask for more when you can only see a fixed number of players.

Anyway, I was just thinking out loud over my morning coffee. :D

You would think it would be closed just on being a duplicate topic.....

The thread "Can we get more players into Open Play?" seems like the perfect place to discuss "What's with all this 'lets get more players in open' nonsense?"

Yep, what is it with all this more players in to Open mode plz stuff?

I'm with OP on this one. I don't and never will, play in Open. Unless maybe an Open PvE thing comes along [yesnod]
Or PvP on/off flags like other online games have?
I think the max players per instance is about 32. Distant worlds pulled off more due to location but that was an exception to the rule.

Open is horrible. It is dominated by a minority of PvPiers and its their kingdom.
There must be thousands of them in numbers because they managed to make so much Mobians ( the majority of ED players btw ) to play in PG/solo.

Maybe you guys should form a coalition and march into open and take it back? I mean according to some there are only 200 of pvpiers dominating OPEN. Should be a walk in the park for all of you, no?

Are you trying to tell people who don't want direct PvP to start doing direct PvP?
