Whats with the green ships?

So I'm kicking around my semi-regular hangout earning 80 000 cr per trade run in a T6, before hanging out in the same systems in my souped up viper looking
for trouble.( more like finding wedding barges and other useless crud at USS)

I get back to my home base system in order to dock and logout for the night, when I notice some of the ships on the scanner in SC have gone green instead of
the normal orange, and when approaching the station, some of the ships in that area have gone green too.

So whats with that? they some sort of ally now?

You've become Friendly or Allied with a local faction. Check the right-hand panel, should say there.

AFAIK, as you're allied with the Empire (Major Faction), it'll display whatever is higher out of your major/minor faction rep. However, the owner of the station is the minor faction, so if you're still neutral to them (despite it showing Allied, as they are part of the Empire), it'll show orange. You can check this by doing a mission for the faction in question, on it's completion it'll show you your relationship to that faction; it will likely say Neutral.
