General / Off-Topic What's your favorite scifi movie/tv show?

//I looked for an "off-top forum" but I couldn't find one, so here I am.

Let's face it. Sometimes in ED, you play the role of a "bored" trucker just doing his job (in some ways, I love that part of ED). Having a dual screen, I like to just watch a movie or a show on the second screen while I do these "boring" (note that I put the quotation marks there - it's all part of the experience as far as I am concerned) missions.

Now, discovering this game opened my eyes to the whole "scifi" world as a whole. Full disclosure here: as a CS major, my friends that were in my group for projects in college once absolutely alienated me for never have watched any of The Star Wars movies (yes, I am that much of a scifi virgin). But, I am ready to dive into this world.

I assume that there are a lot of people in the ED community that love scifi movies/shows, many of them far older than I am to name some classic gems I might've missed out on.

Just one rule: No Star Wars and No Star Trek. I mean c'mon, If you are a true veteran of a genre, you should be able to better than that right? :D

Battlestar galactica had a nice space vibe for me.
For a favourite SciFi movie of all times i choose District 9. Thats a first movie that I watched 2 times in one evening. The moment it ended I clicked the replay button. :D

6) Firefly (was only one season or would be higher)

- Star Trek (duh) as long as it's not Voyager or Enterprise.
- Babylon 5
- Battelstar Galactica (the original series, never made it through a single episode of the remake)
- Futurama

All these babylon 5 posts, make think i need to revist it.

my favourite would be battlestar, firefly...although red dwarf has to get a mention being the first sci fi i watched.

Liked caprica too, too many sci fi's get axed too soon

I would highly recommend Battlestar Galactica (new series) for any "non SciFi" person. If that doesn't do it for you then nothing else will. ;)
