What's your favorite thing about ED?

For me its the way the ships move. Each ship feels unique and I absolutely think those mechanics have been perfected.

******

Customer feed back is fantastic, but if it only consists of tears and rants it doesn't provide the game creators with a realistic view of the player's experience. With all the ranting and bickering of late, maybe we take a break and discuss what we love about it?

The lore (when its not being retconned)
The immersion
The scale
The flight mechanics
Combat
Trading
Every star system is unique (yes some look like eatch other but only as much as two forest look the same)
The ammount of gameplay hours , or rather gameplay weeks I got out of it so far
The gritty ambiance
The fact that you can find a 8KM (or more) mountain and go up it in real time , no stupid fast travel and no scaling down
The fact the game is slow and forces you to work for your rewards , like games used to

Post 2.1? Definitely the missions-& the factions we do them for. I really feel a greater amount of immersion now that I can clearly see what kinds of factions I am working for, & why I am doing these missions for them....really aid my roleplaying.

A close second is definitely driving around on planets. The views are gorgeous, & chasing wave scanner signals is a ton of fun!!!

The grind

In fact I have a black belt in Grind-Fu

( you can start throwing rocks at me now ). :D
There is no Grind there only Missions/work
There is no Handholding there is only a Learning curve.
There is no Faction biased there is the BGS.
There is no Greifing there is Emergent gameplay
There is no Boredom, there is only Elite : Dangerous.

I just remember SC in a system and looking over at the local star. I have TrackIR so I can look around. The lens flares from the star gave the illusion of having a dirty visor. It looked really good and the dirt moved with head movement. I bet it would have been very immersive in VR.

Man, I'm so pumped about VR.

God dang dude, if I told you my favorite color was blue, would you assert that I was wrong... there is only one best color and Privata shall determine it!

You missed the point of the comment.
It was a star wars reference. the jedi code.

But it is my opinion that there is no grind , played for hundreds of hours and only been on missions , and doing my job. (my charecters job)
The pace of an elite game is ment to be very slow.

Its ment to take a year or so to get to be elite , and own an anaconda. of course they changed that and made it fast. what ever FD say goes , but that was the plan originaly.

If you find it grindy thats fine , but I dont see why everyone should act as if its grindy when the game does not put a grind wall up to stop us from making progress.
You can do nearly everything in the stock sidewinder , even taking down anacondas. and it only takes about 3 hours to get a cobra MK3... used to take weeks

Ship handling, big universe, sound/music, immersion, ship customization, performance friendly, visual graphism, Massively Multiplayer (almost), functional HUD and a hard life kinda feel.
