Whats your favorite trade route?

My favorite trade route is rare commodities from all over - enough to fill a shieldless T6 and then I hang out in Open in Harma.

Safe systems with low jump ranges are all over and easy to find in the Empire trading in Imperial Slaves and a return commodity. After many hours of play I now relax in my 720 cargo Cutter going A-B-A allied with all factions in two safe systems making ~2.3 million round trip. For adventure it's the Asp Explorer with the illicit and smuggling runs. Starting out I did rares before they got nerfed but it's still profitable with many more system stops.

I, too, use the Cutter as my trading ship. I also run Imperial Slaves as well. If I get adventurous I just refit at Diaguandri and go on my merry way.

I don't have one. Usually I pick the best-paying delivery mission from bulletin board and then I check what commodity shall I bring with me to the destination system. Not the best way of making profit, but then again, less boring :)

I used a Cutter to finish up my trading rank, taking Imperial Slaves from [REDACTED] only 7LY away to [REDACTED] it was pretty nice :D
Same, ended my season with that. Made a music video and everything to celebrate.
Shameless promotion incoming.

dont bother going to the station in the video, the cargo is legal now....

Yeah.... Good luck trying to get a trade route out of people. As soon as a profitable route gets posted online it stops being a profitable route after about 2 hours. Most routes are closely guarded secrets :p

My favourite is the one that pays me well.

The BGS has gone insane since cutter introduction (it's a sweet ride, yo) with commodities pricing changing as frequently as once an hour (because a ship with twice the capacity of Anaconda was added but the BGS wasn't retuned) so there is no one "best" place to trade, merely better runs and worse runs.

Once you get to a cutter or anaconda, rares become time consuming and it just attracts player pirates. Much more profit in high quantity short runs.

I can do you a sweet deal on slaves migrants though. :)

It's not necessarily just because people are protecting routes. It's because the BGS is insane and there is rampant hyper inflation and fast cycle price spikes because the BGS has gone insane (large cargo ship added with no BGS retooling).

As I like trading in Open (I know - sucker for punishment), I would ask all those people complaining that PVP ain't what it used to be, to hang out at the end of some Imperial systems trade routes for pirates. I almost lost my trade clipper to a 'real' pirate. My fault as I only had a class 3 shield (chocolate teapot comes to mind) and have now, had to put a class 5 back (still rubbish).

So call to PVP wannabe's - find popular trade routes (like Orang - oops) and sit there looking for heavily armed WANTED players. You can get your PVP kicks there...

Actually this is not always the case as I've posted numerous lucrative trade routes with very few responding or loss of commodities value. It is more of a generalized "fear" versus actual game play. It's a massive universe.

Still there are so many great trade route possibilities that giving up one is pretty much for newbies. One can easily find very profitable trade routes first getting proficient using the Galaxy Map submenu options and support sites as in Thrudds Trading Tool . It's all downhill after that.

Put the class 3 back on and add on A0 shield boosters. Despite in game flavour text there is no benefit to a class 5 shield that gives you, say 180mj of shields, versus a class 3 and boosters that give you the same 180 mj amount. combat is a different story as that is more around hull or shield tank strats.

But trading? Shield boosters and a heat sink, or chaff. And if you jump into a system and see commanders? Plot a random nearby star to have high wake available (then switch local Nav to the station so you can easily high wake out). :)

OP, as this thread shows you already you ain't gonna get many if any trade routes put up on here! People, and unfortunately i class myself in this group, won't let on a 'Treasured' route as once posted on here, you may as well pack up and move on. Publication will drain it of all it's profitability.

What i would advise and i have used these tools many times is the online Trade Tools such as:

https://eddb.io/trade/single

http://ed-td.space/

http://elitetradingtool.co.uk/

Or Go here for a collection of all the Tools not only for trading but 'EVERYTHING' ED!!!

Finally Good luck in your trading quest, it is IMHO one of the better ED Professions, but i am a Trader/Smuggler and would say that ;)

Biowaste to Archenar.

But you don't sell it, you just dump it in the stations and post pics below.

This is all good information, as said disclosing a good route is the death of it. There's a reason I don't have any good routes in any of my videos. All the trade videos I have are of rare trading, sub optimal routes, or routes showing only the destination.
i do this for both the above reason and to not ruin a route for one of my viewers. It's got me some flack with people saying they can do much better but I won't show good routes on my channel.
Normally I wouldn't mind helping out but in this case I could potentially cause more harm then good.

the information above is how I find my routes as well, aim for at minimum of 2400 CR per ton per trip, higher is obviously better. Pay attention to the distance to the station and be aware that the supply or demand may not be accurate. You're just going to have to try it out and if the honey is sweet set up shop, otherwise keep looking.

fair warning if you play in open the really good routes are found the same way by pirates. I usually take a light load the first round to make sure the route is both good and pirate free. At that point I usually ditch the shields and go nuts until it dries up, slap a new shield on and keep trucking. But that's what I do, do so at your own risk but I find the extra profit is more profitable than the cost of repairs. If pirated weigh your options, but if running something fragile, slow, or shield-less (nearly every trade ship) negotiate there's no way your tin can of goodies is a match for a combat fit pirate who will be more than happy to teach you a lesson by turning you into scrap.

If you are running shields and plan on booking it outta there put 4 pips into system and high wake out if you have to. If you low wake expect the pirate to interdict you again fight the interdiction and if you start to lose just submit and weigh your options again. Just don't expect them to be as nice the second time around.

Personally I prefer a cutter sized dump all over Mars High :p

Thanks for the tip with the shields! Your second point was sort of what I did but the ridiculous power of the pirate ship meant that he was using direct weapons (looked like plasmas and 4 x beams as they wizzed by my window). To be fair - he didn't fire straight away after I submitted and gave me the opportunity to stop but I had a lot of cargo so boosted away and was jockying all over the place trying to put off his aim, four pips to engines and waiting for the Frame Shift to charge (class B). In that time - shields down and hull to 20%.

My problem was I chose a system to high-wake to but didn't have enough fuel so had to re-select a closer system, which was fun! Challenges of being a trader I guess! ;-)

Used to be trading gold (Owen Dock, Glusargiz) and progenitor cells/performance enhancers (Helvelius terminal, Hatmehing).

Owen dock is an outpost, so no large pads us the limitation. Both ends had large supply and demand.

Best suited for an asp, 22 LY or thereabouts. Haven't been there in ages so don't know if it still good.

Enjoy.

I'll not mention their names, but the route I fly the most since Horizons came out is a six stop route that involves three planetary bases and a central space station. I'm not much of a min/maxer-- I just hunt out routes that I find interesting and pay somewhere north of 2000cr/t for each two stop trip.
