Ships What's your favourite and your most effective combat ship?

Two questions here in case they have a different answer.
What is your favourite combat ship?
And...
What is the combat ship you can destroy everything from an Eagle to an Anaconda/Corvette the quickest in?

Obviously the build matters too.
More a PVE rather than PVP question.

My main combat ships:

Phasing Sequence Conda

Perfect for engineered NPCs (wing Pirate Lord FDLs), works good vs. (lesser) Gankers

Focused Plasma Krait

Fun to fly; works good vs. pirate Vettes and Condas

Beamyvette with Shards

Destroys everthing; Conflict Zones, HazRes, Threat 4 pirate mission signal sources (those with 7-8 deadly/dangerous Chieftains, Pythons, FDLs, Vipers, Cobras). The shards (pre-engineered) are for fun, but also do good damage.

The Fleet Carrier. Though it's become difficult to introduce offenders to it's 7.5km exclusive party patch.

Second, Prism Vette. Can't do much wrong with that, simply choose what suits your taste best. It's fun to find out what that is, too.

O7,
🙃

Been meaning to try shards against Thargoids, but must try them against human ships too. Do shards generate a lot of heat? Did you need this number of thermal vent beams to offset the heat?

Fleet carrier I got recently, so now open to short jump range combat ships. Should get rear admiral rank this week and have plenty of credits for a Corvette. Need to wait 3 more weeks for prismatic shields. So yes, I will be trying this soon to see if I like it more than a 'conda for big ship combat.

They are great against NPC hulls! Yes they generate a lot of heat and the TV beams do a good job to counter that - or the heat from the class 7 SCBs. Never needed heatsinks with this setup.

1) Gimballed frag pvp clipper, since 15th march has disabled guns due to FDev laziness. Ship is parked :/
2) Vette. Two H-multis (rapid firing, oversize), Two gimballed long range med beams (vent), Large beam turret (vent), small multicannon turret (hicap, corrosive shell), small pulse turret (long range, emissive)

Sorry to here the Clipper is parked. I have been meaning to build a Clipper with frags one day - never bought a Clipper so far. They look like a hoot with frags.
I've got one last piece of engineering to do t=on the Vette I finally got hold of today, aside from Prismatic shields which will take about 3 more weeks until I get accss to them.
My weapons load out on the Vette is similar to yours, except the large beam on the under side is gimbled and long range like the medium beams. The huge multi cannons are overcharged and autoloader to make the ammo last longer and to never have a gap in firing. My small hardpoints are the same as yours.
I'm not used to ships with as low as 28ly jump range. Khun is a long way just to get boss cells on the shield cell banks....

I'm boring and my favorite combat ship is the Corvette. I'm the kind of guy who's combat style is to throw a bunch of ordinance at the enemy until they die, and I don't use the Cutter or the T10 because I at least want to be able to face my enemy.

I did have some fun loading an FDL with a class 4 beam and four packhounds. Drop their shield with the beam and launch a cloud of explosions.

I love that :ROFLMAO:
My second commander account runs 2 x pack hounds on a Phantom with long range beams and thermal vent. It kind of cooks if I launch a full salvo of both packhounds.
How do you stop the FDL cooking?

What can I say about my Clipper boat...
Murderous, fast, agile and durable build for tight and "melee" combat and by melee I mean ramming in which Clipper excels. I don't know why but collision damage against Clipper hurts a lot, which is great for quicker shield stripping and smashing an exposed hull.

Fast recovering C7 bi-weave shield 400MJ,
Reactive hull + HRP's all heavy duty with deep plating ~ 5000 pts of integrity,
All gimballed frag cannon build (C3 screening overcharged, C2 corrosive & drag).
600 m/s boost speed

Speaking of borked large frags as far as I know this issue is limited to Horizons, you should be fine in Ody.

The majority seem to go for the Corvette as the most effective, favourite, or both. I finally got a Corvette yesterday and spent the afternoon getting all the engineering done before heading to a compromised nav beacon.
Dang, I didn't want the boom boom to stop. Had to go back to real life after 35 minutes and I still had plenty of ammo left in the two huge multi cannons. It's the sounds it makes as well as having so much DPS in the same firing arc and an obscene amount of shield strength backed up by two 7A shield cell banks. And this is before I can get hold of prismatics.
I still want a smaller faster ship, and need to try a FAS next. The FDL I'm having trouble warming too, and much as I like the Chieftain it slides a fair bit like the FDL. I've been using a Krait II for months and want a change - something a bit more agile and faster.

Personally, I love my Chieftain. I remember stepping up from a viper to a vulture and thinking, "yeah, this is definitely better, but it's still pretty tricky" and then to the chief and the difference was incredible. Suddenly kills were coming thick and fast and I was barely ever even losing shields. I was ripping ships apart and it felt easy. It was amazing.

For the record, I run 2 large beams and 4 frags, all doubleshot. I originally had all 6 doubleshot frags which was utterly absurd against anything medium or large, (my "big game hunter" build) but which fell apart quickly against smaller ships like vipers and vultures, so I compensated with the bigger beams so I can now deal with anything and can always finish a fight even if I run out of ammo.

I've been meaning to turn my phantom into a railgun/beam platform for a while to try out something different but my chief is just so good I can't see the point.

I only use my Vulture.

I engineered and armed a Cutter and Python, but did not like the combat experience in either of them at all. Thought about getting an FDL, but never got around to it and doubt I ever will. I just like flying my Vulture to much and it will take any NPC one on one. I can also use it to take on two or three at once, but it can't be something like three FDL's at once.

The FAS is a really fun ship to fly, especially around asteroids.

My current favourite is my mamba, mostly used in conflict zones.

Most of my combat ships were on my PS CMDR which I “mothballed” and sold a bunch of stuff to transfer credits to my PC CMDR before they announced transfers …

Anyway … my Chieftain was a lot of fun: BiWeaves, 2x Small + 1x Medium Beam Lasers (Long Range/Thermal Vent) and 2x Large + 1x Small MultiCannon (Overcharged/AutoLoader + High-Capacity/Corrosive), very agile and effective. Great for HazRES or CZs when you want something more fun than just sitting in a Corvette.

I also really enjoy the Mamba as a “big game hunter” for assassination missions. IIRC, I had 2x Large Beams (Efficient/Thermal Vent) and then 1x Huge + 2x Small Multis with the usual Overcharged/AutoLoader + Corrosive.

Chieftain was sold as part of my “get credits over to PC” plan but Mamba will transfer across once the option becomes available.

This thread inspired me to log back into my PS4 CMDR - now rolling in credits following the Fleet Carrier decomm - and resurrect my Chieftain build ready for the big PC move!!

Ran it up a little different this time … same weapons as above but loaded it with 4x 4D Guardian Shield Reinforcements to get the MJs up and then just some 1E Boosters in the utility slots to add some resistance. 991MJs with 60% resists oughta do the job …

And, if not … 1600 hull (need more engineering there …) and a couple of module reinforcements … coupled with a 533 boost means I should be able to get outta dodge if it all goes sideways!
