I was planning to do a malt thread at some point, but right now I am mostly drinkin' bourbon. So was interested to know. Specially since there's been wild merkins spotted in these woods.
Quite a few years back I decided to find out what was my favourite whisky, so when I went out I'd ask for a glass of my current favourite plus a glass of one I hadn't tried before. If the new one tasted better then that became my current favourite.
I kept that up until the two whiskies I compared were Glenmorangie and Macallens. Both managed the trick of tasting sweet without the peaty overtones that some other whisky drinkers prefer, but still having the distinctive taste of Scotch Whisky. I just can't tell them apart. I like both of them.
I've never had any need for Bourbon. If I'm doing any painting and decorating I just buy cheap brushes and chuck them away instead of cleaning them.
