What's your favourite part of ED?

Everything about it really. There's not much not to like. The only thing not to like is the stark corporate minded maintenance of the game.

When it comes down to it, the reason why its clocked up thousands of hours is because there is zero play direction, every day is choose your own adventure.

I also get a dumb kick from how even though elite is a simulation, as a lay person with an interest in astronomy and cosmology, you "know" about quite a good portion of real science discoveries well before the science gets around to discovering it. Just a little bit funny. eg, real life is just coming around that the majority of stars have planets now. Really. Elite also had multiple star systems well before the scientific community announced the fact. And thargoids too apparently from the mars rover pic.

I like that I can set huge goals across a wide range of skills, break them down into manageable chunks & work my way towards them, figuring out contingencies & overcoming challenges on the way.

I enjoy meeting others & learning their own motivations & goals too, helping them to achieve theirs while I work on my own and finding ways for everyone I meet to enjoy their journey too.

I don't always succeed (and it would quickly become boring if it were easy) :)

Bring some time if you do, it's not as bad as a Hutton run but not far off (~45 min).

Something to do while watching a boring football game then :)

Was there recently but decided against it - did the Hutton Run though, almost by accident, never realised it was just next door to Sol.

I always figured it was a distant place...

In real life I'm big into amateur astronomy and astrophotography. I have seen or imaged many of the major astronomical objects and destinations in Elite over the years. I just love the ability to go to these places in game and wonder what it would be like to visit them in reality. It further reinforces the personal connection I have with astronomy. I guess that's why it's the only game I've ever played consistently over a time span of years.

Trade runs in my Monty Python, armed and engineered to welcome pirates who think I am parting with my precious biowaste.

Long (very long) exploration trips in my Anaconda, not just jump, honk, jump. I love to land on planets with POI's and blast about in the SRV and try to remember that I am a long way from home. But where's the fun in safe?

Returning to the bubble after trips that last two months or so, reminds me of the feeling my Uncle told me of when returning to port after a deployment to some far-flung part of the world. Setting the Conda down on the pad at my home station and that sigh that you are home. That is when I feel like a real explorer.

I don't know if I could pick just one thing, I love almost everything. I just love space lol

Maybe exploration is my favorite, however the actually way you map planets is kinda boring (especially when it's a super huge gas giant and you need like 20 probes or more). Finding some super cool places and getting great screenshots is fun for me.
