What's YOUR most anticipated future feature?

List of most mentioned 'anticipated features'....

1. Space Legs (initially a basic version is fine)
2. Guilds (chatrooms, guild bank, player managed fanctions, not NPC managed).
3. Guild owned territory, star systems (will be optional and there's enough room in space, most systems are never visited)
4. Atmospheric landing with alien life and procedural cities.
5. Base, outpost building and management
6. Animated mouths and moving heads of Holo-me characters for videos, roleplaying and machinima.
7. HUD customization (colors and layout)

I don't have a link, but I do remember that it was discussed during the early game development that FD did not want players to own major assets like stations as they don't want players controlling who can access stations. I assume this also applies to bases as well.

I guess it also depends what you mean by player owned. As we know, player factions can take control of stations in the game today, but it's really just a badge of honour - it doesn't allow to you forbid access to other groups.

All that said, they also said long ago that there would never be a 3rd person camera because the game is played in first person perspective and they were concerned that having a 3rd person view would give the player an advantage in combat. If you look at where we are now - decisions can change over time.

Well Braben said in some interview that he didn't like spreadsheet gameplay, but player management of stuff was not ruled out. So we could (and should) get some sort of base-building and management features in the future. It's been requested very often.

Right now the game progression revolves around ranking up and upgrading your ship. However after you become Elite and got the biggest available ship, what's the next big goal for wealthy players? That should be player a player owned base and outpost, guilds etc. That would cost a fortune to acquire and manage. There are people who don't like this type of gameplay, but it would be entirely optional.

Update:

Frontier wants to add this in the future:

On NPC-crewed ships farming for us, building bases and hiring NPCs generally:

Q: My question is, if we can buy multiple ships - will there be any possibility of crewing those ships with computer generated people so you could send ships out to trade on their own. Additionally, if you have enough money, any chance you could actually build a base, buy ships for police duties and such?
A: This is the sort of thing we will look at down the line. We want to avoid the game feeling like 'playing a spreadsheet' though, but these features are certainly on our radar. November 2014 Q&A

On stashing mining machines on planetary surfaces:

You would be able to see heavy industry, craters up close, and ultimately be able to deposit things on the surface (stash cargo or mining machines). June 2014 Q&A

On buying space stations, and possibly ones that generate cash:

Q: Will I be able to buy a shop on a space station so I can get a rolling income while I explore?
A: That is something we have thought about, including buying whole stations as well. Because obviously if you're setting out in the unknown you might be the person that arrives with that Ocellus station... That's something that I want to come with time. Sept 2014 Vid - 23m18s

On owning planetary bases:

Can you conquer planetary bases? Can attack, but can't have your own one. Not yet anyway. Horizons 2015 Q&A

Most of it from a fair while back, and with the normal 'want to do it, but not yet' caveats. But it seems like such things are desired by FDev :)
