Whats your previous Elite experience? Amiga, PC, Xbox?

Hello CMDRs

Just wondered how many of us future PS4 CMDRs have played the series before - are you new to Elite or do you know the engine stats of a Boa freighter off the top of your head?

For me, I played Frontier: Elite 2 on Amiga for many years as a teenager, and got my Commander into Pather Clipper and my combat rank up to Deadly. Think i was max rank with the Federation and about halfway with Empire. A few years ago, i bought an Amiga again and a copy of FE:2 just to play it again.

I've also got Frontier: First Encounters on my laptop and occasionally play that too.

I've been playing Elite Dangerous on Xbox One for the past 10 months now, and got a few ships. I only bought the Xbox to play ED.

Now ready to start my PS4 journey - i'm going to PS4 because its my primary console, and its a PS4 Pro

Lets hear it

I played Elite Dangerous on PC during year one. I had to stop before Horizons came out. No longer have a gaming pc so I am looking forward to this. If it comes out.

first time i played elite was on a bbc acorn, then Amiga 500, then PC. Elite 2 and FFE i played until 2 years ago on my laptop, I was tempted to get either a better laptop or an Xbox1 for ED until i found out about ED on PS4 and now just have to wait 13 days until my dream becomes reality

Elite - Spectrum

The others on a mix of Atari ST and Amiga.

Couple of weeks on PC Elite Dangerous to test DS4.

Waiting......

First played Elite Dangerous on XB1 a little over a year ago. Played for about two months and loved every minute of it. I was going to buy Horizons, but then I read that ED was coming to PS4, which is my preferred console. So I decided to abandon my XB1 game and have been waiting for the PS4 release ever since! The wait has been difficult and I have been tempted to go back to the XB1 version many times, but only succumbed to temptation last weekend. I just couldn't wait any more and played for about 4 or 5 hours, then deleted the game to avoid further temptation!

*Original Elite on Commodore 64
*OOLite on Macbook Pro (I got bored with this really quick because I've been spoiled by ED videos)

Not directly related, but also the entire Wing Commander series on PCs of various capacities :D

Started playing Elite on a friends BBC Micro. The two of us, working together to navigate between stations, plotting what to buy, choosing what weapons to install.

had a bit of an Elite Gap...

Eventually bought Frontier on the Amiga and played it to death.

For my 21st birthday I got a BBC Model B (yes, I'm that old) and it was a superb machine but sadly when it came to games, the C64 and ZX Spectrum were better and then one day Elite turned up in the stunning black box packed with stuff and I fell in love instantly.

After that I had a Spectrum and C64 and yes played Elite on both and it was slightly different which was nice, Trumbles on the C64 and some nice custom missions on the Spectrum. Later on I played it again on the Amiga 500/1200 and then Frontier Elite II on my Amiga.

I will admit to being very upset when FFE was announced and the Amiga didn't get a port and I didn't have a PC at the time and could not afford one so I missed out on that.

Years later I played Oolite a lot as it is a superb (and free) Elite clone and has some brilliant mods! Then Elite Dangerous came out but my PC cannot play it, I don't have a cutting edge gaming PC and my graphics card was not capable so again I went without :(

I don't want to get into console wars but let me just say I would have played it on the Xbox but their E3 conference in 2013 alienated me and I bought a PS4.

I've been waiting all this time but soon, very soon I'll play ED!
(I just wish there was some PS4 footage I could watch and drool over. normal PS4 that is, not Pro)

I played the original (well, Elite Plus) on PC back in the day. I remember spending many, many hours on that and I got to the rank of Archangel and completed the few missions that had - I basically exhausted the gameplay. I know this new one is more technical and way deeper.

Hello CMDRs

Just wondered how many of us future PS4 CMDRs have played the series before - are you new to Elite or do you know the engine stats of a Boa freighter off the top of your head?

I played Elite on BBC Micro when the Thargoids used to pull your wire frame graphic ship out of hyperspace in the mid 1980s
My next stop was around the early- mid 1990s when I got Elite Frontier for my Amiga 600
The last episode was early 2016 when I got Elite Dangerous on my PC. But the old PC struggled so I gave it up :(

Played Elite on the C64, and actually got to Elite rank (ending up grinding police Vipers :D ).

Didn't really play any games inbetween: played a little on a friend's Amiga 500.

Then jumped to Elite: Dangerous in 3301 on my 11" MacBook Air - feel the power and cower in terror! After deciding this was a good game, I "upgraded" to the Mrs old 27" iMac, I think it's the 2011 model, but it did run better than the Air.
Then my Air died, so I bought a 14" Razor Blade (6GB GTX 1060) and could run ED in either (near) Ultra at 60fps, or use my PSVR on VR low-med: which negated the laptop screen, as VR is essentially the HMDs FoV.

Currently nearing 1200 hours in ED. Though i'm not a grinder or exploiter, just pottered about doing this or that, and still managed to become a billionaire and get Elite combat rank; Tycoon trader; Pioneer explorer.
My proudest accomplishment(s) are probably being a Fuel Rat though, with 104 successful CMDRs saved. While enjoying other activities, being a rat feels like I've occasionally made a real difference to people: like when some drunk CMDR without rebuy would lose their Corvette otherwise; or spending 45 minutes explaining the basics to a newbie and opening their eyes a little.

On the PS4 version I'm mostly just going to chill and stick to small ships, whilst ratting and trying to help newbies as much as I can.

I played the original on BBC Micro and ZX Spectrum. Then Frontier Elite II on a 386 SX25 and First Encounters on a 486 DX33 if memory serves. Started ED with Public Beta 1 pretty much as soon as it was available.
