I've been a trader for most of my time in Elite (with a bit of bounty hunting at Nav Points etc). However, over the holidaze, I earned enough for a Python, it's insurance, some upgrades and decided to do some Super Cruise bounty hunting. Bought a C3 FSDI for 300K ish. I understand that Python's have a high operating cost, but the first ship I pulled was a wanted "Elite" viper. He submitted fairly quickly, but still I took 10% hull damage in the process. On a Python, that's a 150K repair bill that more than killed any profit from the Viper's 30K bounty. More frequently, I get 2-3% damage, which can run 20 to 50K for repairs.
So in general, what is your experience with the FSDI and damage to your own ship?
Does anyone have any solid XP with the more expensive, higher class/rated FSDIs?
Is there a noticeable reduction in % chance of ship damage and/or lower damage amount?
Ultimately, I'll probably just end up buying a 2-3 mil FSDI and test the results myself, but curious if anyone could share their own XP before I spend the credits.
