Whats your year in review?

Well this is my Year in review and I would love to know how yours was and what you would like to see in 3305

I will start by saying I seriously was not sure if I would see the 2019 or really the end of Beyond. ( I really did set it as a goal to see how it ended up) This game...this game has been amazing for me. I can't express how much I love this stinking game. Its pulled me trough hard times over the past year and helped me cope with my condition as it progressed. It was nice when I came home filled with anxiety and worry I could lose it all for just a few hrs playing elite. I got better as a pilot. I made tons of credits. I killed some thargoids. Heck even pirated some booty. (heh) I love beyond. Every single video I watched and got hyped for.. I loved all the new ships and they where awesome to fly. I am glad Engineering got fixed and we got more on the guardian front. The new mining is dope and it really feels like frontier really does still love this game as much as I do. Sure its not perfect but I can't say they aren't trying! I got to experience the joys and not so joys of my very first gaming community (yes elite really is the first time for me) I meet some people made friends made nemesis. I learned that some people are just mean and some people are just insanely nice. I am far from perfect so yeah :p

What I would like to do in 2019 is go Exploring...go see Colonia. Go out to beagle point. Go see the depths of space! I also want to hit triple elite. OH and be a better Combat Pilot maybe even get good enough to pvp with out exploding :p

So I want to say Thank you Frontier thank you for making this game and hell doing everything in beyond. If I could repay you for the amount of help your product has brought me I would. I swear its worked better then anything the DR's done so far

(this was hard for me to write okay so if i don't come across good i am sorry. regardless of what people say I love elite and its been a huge help in keeping me sane so yes I teared up writing this call me a baby if you want I am not ashamed)

I've been engineering my AspX, for long range exploration, particularly for the Distant Worlds 2 expedition. That includes gathering materials from Guardian sites, so I could get a Guardian FSD boost module. I also spent a few months exploring the Formadine Rift and along the "southern" edge of the galaxy.

I know how you feel, My health took me away from the game for a year or so and I missed it terribly as it relaxes me and eases my anxiety.

Came back just before the drop of the recent update and very happy to be back.

Looking forward to whatever is to come.

I stopped playing on and off due to wanting to wait for the final Beyond update. I did buy and engineer a Krait, which is a great ship. Flew it to the Gnosis where is remained until Q4 appeared. I then flew out past the Heart and Soul nebula and had a great time with the new scanning mechanics.

I think Beyond gas been great and the game has matured a little bit and will continue to do so this year where hopefully we'll get atmospheric landings in some shape or other.

Playing since May(?) this year and 1,865 hours so far.

Love the game, it is the way to build something monumental rather than a generic by-the-numbers as most AAA's churn out.

Me since January. This game overwrite everything in my gaming. I don't really care anything to play with. Almost a year, I have Triple Elite, tons of fun, and love for a game what I don't felt before. L'm looking forward what will happen in 2019. Best wish to FDev, and all of the players.

Nothing substantial this year as expected for a year without paid updates.

Hopefully there will be an update worth paying for this year.

2018 - The year of Crappy Disco Shadows and Elephant Butt Leather

Since these bugs are a direct result of sunlight, perhaps that makes 2018 "The Year Of The Vampire!"

Let's hope 2019 is the year of a cure, because I ain't no Kristen Stewart :p

I finally found a ship with a fighter that everyone else hates more than a Keelback.

The Crusader.
I've began getting to grips with my twisted ginger step-child and I'll whip it into shape reasonably soon I think.

I also nailed a couple of the Elites (not combat, that will be the Crusaders honor).
Oh yeah, and became pretty rich, a full Admiral and, a King, so not to shabby all things considered.

2018 started with a fireworks show in Open play with half a dozen other Cmdrs outside Jaques station in Colonia for me. I was there in my Corvette having spent the whole of 2017 without docking. It was a friendly & welcoming player environment, quite different to the bubble & I enjoyed it.

By March I was back in the bubble, with the new C&P rules I no longer had to make sure any dirty work was done in an Anarchy, I just got into whatever trouble with the local law I wanted & once I was done pop over to a nearby 'safe haven' (a system with an interstellar factor where I was careful to keep my nose clean) that being a criminal became much less challenging, much easier. Later that Safe Haven would become very important to me.

I hadn't been back to my home system for 18 months, and in that time it had been taken over by another NPC faction. I used some of the exploration data I had gathered from the trip home and mission running to put my NPC faction of choice back in charge, discovering who my opposition was only after the war was won; I had singlehandedly managed a surprise system flip against a powerplay group who came to find out what happened. I met one of their members docked in 'my' home station (I did all of this in open). Well that sucked the wind out of my sails :(.

I came to an agreement with them and moved my main base of operations to that 'safe haven' system. It was outside the powerplay bubbles & with the main station nearly 2,000ls from the main star I more or less had it to myself. My NPC faction of choice (I work alone) already had a presence in my new home system so after another month or so I was in charge of a system once more and spent considerable time maintaining influence in my new home while carefully keeping my faction's position in it's home system, my old home, between the powerplay team's faction of choice and all the stragglers. Basically I spent the last six months fighting in near constant wars with minor influence factions trying to maintain a gap from the dregs but also from the controlling faction I couldn't afford to get into a war with.

I had been waiting for 3.3 to drop before going out exploring again, and with the changes to the BGS happening at the same time I planned to go out for a bit of a 'splore again while the inevitable bugs were dealt with in the new BGS rules. The exploration update hasn't gone quite as well as I'd expected so in the mean time I've moved about 100ly away from my home system(s) into a quiet area of the bubble so any potentially damaging effect any of my activities have harm as few other players' efforts as possible.

I shipped a few ships over to the new site to earn some money, most of which has been to take passenger missions and wing fetch quests. I'm currently out in the Heart & Soul region with a pair of 'rich explorer' missions.

So 2018 has been a mixed bag of entertaining scrapes and more community 'interaction' than I had really intended - I mostly keep myself to myself. But I usually have a wing trade mission on the go so if you see me in the bubble shoot me an o7 & I may ask if you'd like to escort me. You'll have your pick of the mats from any number of mission pirates and I'll be happy to have the company & share my mission reward ;)

Pretty much end game stuff. Became triple elite, visited Sag A, bought and engineered a Cutter, Krait, and a couple other ships I already forgot about. Took my longest break ever since starting to play, around Beyond beta, still haven't been able to get back into it. Probably will soon though.

They added some stuff to the game, some of which I enjoyed, some of which passed me by. I ranked up and made money - slowly, as I reconciled a full time job and multiple trips to the hospital to deal with multiple real life issues that will not kill me short term, but seriously impede real life. ED is my game to go to when I want to zone out.

Summer 2018... started my journey to SAG A*. Winter 2018 and after some break, finally reached SAG A*. Flew to Jaques, turned my stuff in and finally got my Elite Rank. Currently flying back to the bubble at my own pace :D

Spring:
- Interactions added with assets in the game
- stealth tied into megaship piracy
- promise of limpet controller bays

Summer:
- uh? was there something?
- torpedo nerf?

Fall:
- Krait absolutely not to my taste

Winter:
- gold rush with new mining -> great piracy
- FSS is a superb addition
- Mamba is lovely
- Installations and stuff in the game
- FSS adds USS detection and is no longer a module that eats up fitting space
- no more RNG waiting on a USS to spawn, instead a swift check and onwards it goes if there is no USS to my liking
- scenarios for more dynamic interactions
- voice acted stuff
- Scenario captains with modules in the thousands of HP to counter tactics disabling ships quickly -> bad move
