When are we going to get the loot and reward system promised for the base game?

I assumed Loot and Reward for the base game would arrive at the same time as it did in Seasons 2. It arrived in Season 2 Horizons three months ago... but as far as I can tell no loot and reward has arrived in the base game.

Frontier, when is it going to arrive?

PS The loot and reward system is detailed in "David Braben Reveals the Future of Elite Dangerous - EGX 2015 Developer Session" https://youtu.be/3Em7TLwFifE

Sandro Sammarco "It allows a great degree of customisation and power to your ships. If you want those nice blue lasers, you can craft them. It is important to note that this is not just for Season 2. The loot and reward system, it's across the board, it's for everyone." https://youtu.be/3Em7TLwFifE?t=21m24s

I just want blue lasers
That was actually what excited me the most when Sandro mentioned something along the lines of, "want blue lasers? You can make 'em."

I was imagining that we could choose the colour of our lasers once we mod them and was really looking forward to making mine green. It's always the so called "small touches" that give me the most joy in games.

Sadly it looks like a change of plans.

So only color and effect changes on the roulette it seems with Engineers, I'm not against the random stuff though, but they said it would come to non Horizons players... thats sad.

Thought we sort of had it, shoot ship boom out pops mats.

like a piñata.

"Loot" hasn't truly arrived for the base game yet. I played 1.6 before updating to Horizons. When you shoot ships, the mats loot pops out just like in 2.1, but there's nothing to do with them, since only engineers can take and use them.

You can accumulate elements by mining and as mission rewards, useful for synthesis (which 1.5 couldn't use when 1.5/2.0 came out because the only way to get elemental mats was by buggy driving). So the base came can now "craft" FSD mods and such.

Great point, guys. Where the heck are those blue lasers??? I thought I was the only one who hasn't found them yet.

Although I initially wanted to be able to choose the colour of my lasers too, I think it is much better to have laser colors based on the modifications.
That way colours have an identification purpose and are an indication of the type of weapons you are dealing with.

True. But I still miss the chance to have green lasers that deal damage. I don't know why, but from an early concept art showing an Imperial Courier I really wanted to try this as well. Maybe for the Star Wars feeling. :D But now I can't. And do not forget, we still have the indicators on our cockpit hud and the computer voice notifying us of the nature of an incoming attack!

Isn't Scramble Spectrum green in color?

Horizons is like... a tenner if you wait for a Steam sale.

when 2.1 beta came out, i asked n the beta forum this feature: the ability to coulor your laser weapon.

Every one who partecipated in the discussion was quite contrary...

DID SOMEBODY JUST ASK ABOUT BLUE LASERS!?

Now

THIS IS WIP MOCKUP UI FROM THE GAMESCOM STREAM

But in the image below, think that might be a colour my weapon's output option?

Assuming it isn't the a mock up/placeholder

Though on the flip side might just be telling us the "Hot Rod" mod makes the Tracers Red

Or as it is a WIP MOCKUP might be nothing at all

if a significant amount of players don't have horizons, they'll probably do it.
If (as I suspect) the vast majority is now playing Horizons (because they upgraded or because they bought the game after last december), they might just drop the matter entirely.
