When cmdr creator is out will you switch genders?

In first person perspective games I don't care. But if it is a game where I can or must see my character for extended periods of time I prefer to go female for the simple reason that I find them a lot more aesthetically pleasing both in form and movement.

Edit, whoppsie, damn spelling correcter, had to change that to the correct aesthetically :) NOT ecstatically

Well, my CMDR name is kind of VERY male and would be WEIRD.

I just wish I could make him the stocky and slightly short Heavy Worlder he is.

I'm a 1st person game player and book reader. I always like to put myself in the role of the protagonist, and as such I always try and make game avatars look like me, and I find it less enjoyable to read 1st person fiction with a female lead

I have to agree. I prefer nice bouncing buttocks and a person of realistic physical size than many muscle monsters we usually get.

TERA goes the opposite direction though.

ALL are qually silly there and I can only see a clear difference between Elf males and Females due to the exaggerated hip sway and chests. Aesthetically pleasing is nice but it should be somewhat realistic. Korea has still to learn how to do that in MMO's.

I play exclusively in VR, so my Avatar will most certainly be male (according to my RL gender). But i like me female pilot bobblehead.

I've got this thing with RPG's that let you create your own character where I always try to create a badass, sexy, female character. I'm pretty sure I will follow the same route with Elite.

Why do you wait for the commander creator? You can have a sexy female now, no need for swapping later.

Also, its called sex, not gender.

Look - I spend a lot of time and effort being Booga The Bush Kangaroo.
If CMDR creator doesnt accommodate me I'm going to be just impossible on the forums for MONTHS.

You know I will - so get it right.

In most games it's easier to create a nice looking female character (and by nice I don't mean certain sliders ramped to the max) than it is a male one. Most male characters in game either end up looking like a semi-effeminate emo 'cloud strife a-likes' or conan the barbarian. I'm hoping the character creator allows us to make 'normal' looking avatars.

Its Elite Dangerous, here, there is no sexy, no emo, no conan. Everyone is equalized by their meth addiction.

My first character in any game is always male.
After that i mix it up, and usually have a male/female ratio of 50/50.
Since ED only has one character slot, it will be a male char.
I do like to fiddle about and fine tune in character creators.
Hopefully FD manage to make it a solid one at least, i'm not expecting miracles.

This is very and unfortunately true.

I never understand the thinking of a male playing a female in a game enviorment.
Seems very strange.

Is your character you? or is it someone else?

Depending on how each person answers this question:

People playing as themselves: tend to choose their own sex, because it represents them better.
People playing as someone else: tend to choose the opposite sex, because its more pleasing to look at.

I think it has to do with the "level of identification" with which you approach it.
If your approach is "that char is me" and play with a strong sense of RP, then i can see how that would make choosing the opposite sex feel odd.
But if you take a more detached approach to it, and view your char as merely "your toon" and your means to interact with the game, then playing as a female (or even a non-human) character is no problem at all.
I like to play female chars, especially caster and ranger classes, not least for aesthetical reasons.
Also, i'm rather secure in my manhood, it won't suffer a scratch. ;)

Edit: Basically ninja'd by Iori there.
